A gun-toting robber riding a motorcycle was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer in São Paulo, Brazil, after trying to stick him up on the street.
The 21-year-old suspect, whose name was not released, rode up to the 28-year-old São Paulo State Military Police agent and his wife as they stepped out of a car outside her mother's home on Saturday, reports said.
A surveillance camera showed the suspect aiming his gun at the cop before being shot and falling off his bike.

Paramedics treated the suspect at the scene and rushed him to Saboya Hospital, where he died from the gunshot wounds.
'The police officer's and the suspect's weapons were seized and sent for expert analysis,' the São Paulo Public Security Department said in a statement.
'The case was registered as resistance, death resulting from police intervention and attempted robbery by the DHPP (Department of Homicide and Personal Protection) which opened a police investigation to investigate the facts. The Military Police are monitoring the investigation.'

The last crime data report released by the São Paulo Public Security Department showed 101,130 robberies registered in the first six months of 2024.
The data showed 17,661 robberies in January before the number decreased to 16,453 in February and ticked back up to 17,883 in March. Authorities documented 17,002 robberies in April before the incidents declined to 16,501 in May and then dropped to 15,630 in June.
Data for robberies reported in July have not been released yet.
A total of 228,028 robberies were reported in all of 2023, including 116,523 in the first six months.
