J.D. Vance reveals who is really to blame for Kamala Harris skipping interviews

Even when Kamala Harris does her first sit down interview, Sen. J.D. Vance thinks it will be 'too little, too late.'

Donald Trump's running mate said the vice president will stay behind her teleprompter if the media continues to produce flowery stories about her without requiring she answer any questions.

Vance told DailyMail.com that Harris' team likely sees their strategy as better to keep her on-script after going 25 days without a press conference or formal sit-down with reporters and mostly positive press in spite of that.

Meanwhile, the vice president is facing backlash for deciding to first release an on-camera conversation with running mate Gov. Tim Walz where they discuss light topics such as tacos and music rather than accepting one of the offers from major media outlets for a serious conversation.

But the Harris-Walz campaign vowed that the Democratic presidential candidate will participate in her first media interview before the end of the month.

'I think it's always too little, too late because the campaign is each day, right, you can't get back. We have what, now 82 days or so until the election,' Vance said onboard Trump Force Two.

'If I was her I would take it as an opportunity to actually persuade the American people and talk to them.'

He continued: 'And I think it's interesting that she sort of sees basically this as an opportunity to run out the clock and avoid the American people for as long as possible.'

In contrast to the Democratic candidate, Vance and Trump have held multiple press conferences over the last few weeks and continue to participate in interviews with the press.

At campaign stops in Michigan on Wednesday and Pennsylvania on Thursday, the VP contender allowed reporters to ask him questions during rallies in front of supporters.

He said it was important to be able to answer tough questions.

'If you want to be the American people's vice president you ought to answer their questions and try to earn their vote. It's really that simple,' Vance said during his approximately 26-minute remarks in Byron Center, Michigan on Wednesday.

'You have got to stand before the American people and answer tough questions if you want to do this job,' he continued. 'And it is scandalous that Kamala Harris is running from the media – but, more importantly, she's running from the American people. That's a disgrace.'

'I've never seen a presidential campaign in the history of my life where a person is asking to be the President of the United States, but she's afraid of you guys,' Vance added, gesturing to reporters lined up at the front of the stage.

'If you can't answer questions from the media, do you think you're going to be able to take on Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping? If you're afraid of answering before the American people, how can we possibly trust you to sit in a room with world leaders and represent the American people.'

But Vance, replying to DailyMail.com onboard Trump Force Two on Thursday, said he understands why Harris' team wants to keep her behind the podium.

'I mean look, if the media's going to write positive stories about her without requiring her to actually talk to them, then maybe it is better to hide behind a teleprompter because you don't have any good ideas,' the Ohio senator quipped.

'I mean, I think the Time magazine profile in particular was really shocking,' he continued. 'The cover of time magazine, they gave her a fawning profile without her even speaking to the media. I think it just suggests that fundamentally, a lot of the American press is an organ of the DNC and is behaving like that. And if they keep on acting like that, why would she get [out from] behind the teleprompter.
