Kevin Spacey is 'refusing to leave' his $5.6million Baltimore home weeks after it was sold at a discount at a foreclosure auction, the new owner alleges.

The actor, 65, previously said that he was forced to offload the waterfront mansion to help cover the 'millions of dollars' in legal fees he owes after his 2023 sexual assault trial.

In late July, the 9,000-square-foot estate was sold at auction for $3.24 million to Maryland real estate investor Sam Asgari, who purchased it anonymously.

And now Asgari has come forward to claim that Spacey is refusing to vacate the property and asking to remain in it rent-free for another six months.

An attorney for Spacey denied Asgari's allegations to the Baltimore Banner on Wednesday.

DailyMail.com has reached out to reps for Spacey for further comment.

'Right now, he's refusing to leave,' Asgari claimed to The Baltimore Banner this week. 'He's asking for six months to leave the property without paying anything.'

Asgari said he's been unable to take possession of the home since he bought it at auction three weeks ago.

He also claimed that he's been forced to negotiate with Spacey's attorneys in the hopes of convincing the actor to leave.

However, Spacey's lawyer, Edward U. Lee III, denied Asgari's claim.

'The accusation by Mr. Asgari is false,' he wrote in a brief statement to the outlet Wednesday.

Foreclosure auctions require court approval before the winning bidder can settle on the property, as explained by The Baltimore Banner, which is typically a weeks-long process.

Once the sale is ratified, the home buyer could pursue a forced eviction with assistance from the Sheriff. More typically, the previous owner will voluntarily vacate the sold property.

News of the sale of Spacey's Baltimore mansion was reported on July 25.

At the time, all that was known was that it had been purchased for $3.24 million to an anonymous buyer.

'It is an iconic property in Baltimore,' Compass Realtor Sam Sheibani told the Baltimore Sun of the sale. 'We were very interested in getting it, obviously not under the circumstances that it's being sold, from whom it's being sold.'

The two-unit, waterfront condo last sold in 2017 for over $5.6 million to Clear Toaster LLC.

No images were available of the property at the auction, which was sold in 'as is' condition.

Spacey has twice dodged bankruptcy since being cut off by Hollywood after allegations of sexual misconduct were first made against him in 2017.

Last year, the double Oscar winner was cleared of nine sexual offences against four men over a 20 year period following a highly publicized trial in the UK.

Spacey has strenuously denied the claims, but he still faces a further civil trial brought by one of the accusers.

Last month, he appeared on Morgan's Uncensored program where he said he is virtually penniless and owes 'many millions'.

'Well I mean, you have some sense of legal bills,' he said. 'I still owe a lot of legal bills that I have not been able to pay.'

Spacey's manager had previously appeared tried to cast doubt on whether the property was owned by the star.

However, court records showed he had a significant amount in back payments.

The home, located in the city's Inner Harbour seaport, was secretly lived in by Spacey while he was filming the Netflix hit House of Cards, with its ownership listed under Clear Toaster LLC.

The sprawling riverside property was listed for sale after the actor fell behind on mortgage payments in the wake of his sexual misconduct scandal, which saw streaming giant Netflix drop him for breach of contract.

in 2021, an arbitrator ordered him to pay nearly $31 million to the studio that made the hit Netflix show, House of Cards, after it was revealed that he allegedly acted inappropriately towards someone on the set of the show.

When recently asked by Piers Morgan about what he considered bad behavior, Spacey said: 'Pushing the boundaries'.

'Being too handsy, touching someone sexually in a way that I didn't know at the time they didn't want. I personally, I have caressed people, I have been gentle with people, that is the way that I am.

But in February, he agreed a settlement with Media Rights Capital (MRC) to pay $1 million.

In June, Spacey emotionally vowed that he 'won't give up on acting' after fresh allegations were made against him in a bombshell documentary by the UK's Channel 4.

The star accused the broadcaster of 'having an agenda' in deciding to go ahead with airing its two-part film, Spacey Unmasked.

The documentary featured previously unheard testimonies about the actor's alleged inappropriate behavior.

At the peak of his career, Spacey was worth almost $77 million with a property empire spanning the US and London.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Spacey had put his central London penthouse flat on the market for £3 million.

The magnificent duplex, close to Waterloo station and his one-time base at the Old Vic theatre, has sweeping views of London and had been his home for 20 years.

The former Oscar winner is thought to have lived in the apartment during the period that brought about his legal troubles - as a number of men came forward to claim he had assaulted them.

It's understood that Spacey has already vacated the penthouse but his long term plans are not clear.

A source told MailOnline: 'The Waterloo duplex was Spacey's pride and joy during the high period of his life.

'He came to London when he was riding high having won his Best Actor Oscar for American Beauty in 2000.

'He wanted to emulate the great English actors like Olivier and Gielgud and he thought that being artistic director at the Old Vic, a theatre closely associated with them, would achieve this.

'And he held that title for over ten years when any door would open to him - but at the same time there was also this feeling that he could have whatever he wanted sexually too. And that ended up ruining him.

'This apartment is where it all happened - and where it all went wrong.'

The source added: 'Kevin has been listed as living there since at least 2004 but it's unclear if he ever even owned it - he may have just been renting.

'He is after all very guarded about his financial affairs.

‘But the fact that he has moved out and it’s on the market speaks volumes about his situation.’
