Tom Brady made a comment that recalled old rivalries with the New York Giants at his an appearance in New York City on Friday.

Brady was at the first ever FanaticsFest in Manhattan, where he took part in a panel hosted by notable media member Stephen A. Smith.

During the discussion, the former Patriots quarterback appeared to be discussing how he plans to approach his television play-by-play duties.

Brady said, 'If I was doing it [for] myself, and let's say I threw a really bad interception, I would walk to the sidelines and I'd say you are the worst quarterback in the world how could you possibly make that throw that was terrible.

'But I just don't want to be so critical, because in some ways I don't necessarily know what the problem was on that play if, let's say... Daniel Jones throws an interception.

That generated a mixture of laughs and boos from the New York crowd, causing Brady to immediately backpedal.

'I didn't mean to say it like that, I wasn't even being critical of Daniel Jones... maybe I was a little bit,' Brady joked with the crowd.

Brady and the Giants have a notoriously one-sided relationship, with the G-Men having defeated 'Tom Terrific' twice in the Super Bowl.

New England first tasted defeat at the hands of the Giants in Super Bowl XLII - where the undefeated Patriots fell short of a perfect season via a 17-14 loss.

Four seasons later, the Patriots and Giants met again in Super Bowl XLVI - where once again, New York prevailed by a score of 21-17.

Some on social media took the chance to remind Brady of that fact - with comments like 'Brady is still bitter from those Super Bowl losses, I see' among others.

Brady is getting ready for his first season in the booth for Fox as a color commentator alongside main play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt.
