Intimate texts exchanged between an ousted Royal Bank of Canada boss and her junior colleague have been revealed amid the latest round of legal wrangling over their secret office relationship.
Canada's biggest lender fired its CFO Nadine Ahn in April after uncovering an alleged decade-long courtship with her subordinate Ken Mason, who reportedly received promotions and raises as a result of the connection.
Ahn, 53, retaliated with a $50 million wrongful dismissal lawsuit earlier this month - but the bank hit back on Friday with a counterclaim seeking $4.5 million in 'excess compensation' paid to Mason, 57, per Bloomberg.
The latest lawsuit revealed text messages exchanged between Ahn and Mason, who swapped romantic poetry and 'fantasized about a life together, such as reading in bed together' according to the bank.
RBC said also referred to each other using pet names - 'Prickly Pear' for Ahn and 'KD' for Mason - who has also filed a $20 million wrongful termination lawsuit while denying any close relationship with Ahn.

Raunchy texts exchanged between an ousted Royal Bank of Canada boss and her junior colleague have been revealed amid a bombshell lawsuit
The bank claims Ahn began an intimate relationship with Mason, an executive in the bank's corporate treasury group, as early as 2013, and it continued up until her departure earlier this year.
'Ms. Ahn forwarded romantic poetry to Mr. Mason, expressing that she had fallen in love with Mr. Mason when she first saw him,' according to the lawsuit filed with the Ontario Court of Justice.
'Ms. Ahn and Mr. Mason continued to regularly see each other outside of the office during this time period, arranging a lunch on August 18, 2017 to celebrate their 'fourth anniversary.'
The bank also gives examples of 'intimate communications' between the pair. 'On March 11, 2019, Ms. Ahn messaged Mr. Mason to say, 'I love you.' Mr. Mason responded 15 seconds later, 'I love you too',' per the filing.
Ahn was promoted to CFO in 2021, and RBC accuses her of using the position to coordinate promotions and pay rises for Mason - something he allegedly referred to as 'Project Ken'.
RBC claims her interventions led to him receiving compensation increases equating to a 58 percent rise over the two fiscal years following her promotion, and she promoted him to vice president and head of capital and term funding in 2023.

Ahn is also accused of sharing confidential information with her lover, including the draft of a speech which was due to be given by CEO Dave McKay.
The pair also used calendar invites to arrange 'liquidity meetings', a code for cocktail plans, according to RBC.
At one 'liquidity meeting' they wrote notes about their drink orders and other topics including 'concert, night out, winery' on a coaster at Canoe, a ritzy restaurant in Toronto's financial district.
Mason encased the coaster in plexiglass and kept it in his office, according to RBC.
The messages were sourced from the bank's internal messaging systems, which the pair regularly used to communicate along with their personal devices.
RBC said it launched an investigation after receiving an anonymous whistle-blower complaint that Ahn and Mason were engaged in an intimate relationship.
Lawyers for Ahn and Mason did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the countersuit.
In her wrongful termination lawsuit, Ahn said the bank's allegations were 'patently false' and her successes, career and reputation were destroyed in an instant by the bank.

A spokesperson for RBC said it had been disappointed to learn the allegations were true.
Ahn was a 'highly respected member' of the executive team with fiduciary responsibilities and the bank had 'great confidence in her abilities,' the spokesperson said.
'Contrary to the statements of claim from Ahn and Mason, the investigation showed there was an undisclosed close personal relationship, and that Ahn misused her authority as CFO to directly benefit Mason,' the spokesperson said in a statement, adding that all senior executives have a duty to follow its code of conduct.
RBC paid Ahn some $3million USD in fiscal 2023, a figure that represented a 25 percent salary increase from the year prior.
At the time she was appointed in 2021 to her now-former role, Ahn was the only female CFO at any of the Big Six Canadian banks.
