The wife of Donald Trump's running mate once planned to vote for Hillary Clinton but now 'fully supports' Sen. J.D. Vance running on the MAGA ticket in 2024.
A longtime family friend shared with DailyMail.com how Usha Vance went from being a registered Democrat to now backing Trump and her husband's Republican agenda.
Trump's running mate told a friend before the 2016 election that Usha intended to vote for Clinton in her race against Trump, the Daily Beast first reported.
But, much like J.D.'s shift in views about Trump and his politics, the MAGA agenda also grew on Usha.
'As has been well documented, J.D. became a supporter of President Trump over time,' Vance's Senate campaign strategist and longtime family friend revealed.
'Usha has had a similar shift in views and fully supports Donald Trump and her husband and will do whatever she can to ensure her victory this November.'

The Yale-educated attorney was previously a registered Democrat and her parents, like most first-generation Indian-American immigrants, are still registered with the Democratic Party, according to recent voter registration records.
But Usha also clerked for Republican-appointed conservative Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts.
'It wasn't something that seemed to me to be a hint at her ideological leanings,' a former classmate of Usha's said. 'It seemed more just a showing of her ambition.'
Multiple friends of Usha say they didn't know her political leanings because she never shared them openly and those close with her family are quoted on record as saying the Chilukuris were never very vocal about politics in general.
Usha's mother Lakshmi Chilukuri was one of 2,300 California professors who signed in 2017 an open letter to Trump, who was president at the time, urging him not to back out of the Paris Climate Accord.
With fewer than 80 days until the 2024 presidential election, the mother-of-three has publicly bought into the MAGA agenda.
Chabri said of the couple's views on the former president's agenda: 'There's no daylight there.'
Vance also had more reservations about Trump in his early years – even calling himself a 'never Trumper' – but has since gotten on board with the former president's agenda and last month was selected as his running mate
A person who has known the Vances for over a decade said they view the two as 'a joint venture.'
'I just don't think they'd be doing this if she wasn't ok with it,' they added.
The Ohio Senator's wife is the daughter of Indian immigrants. And five different family friends say the Chilukuris have never been vocal about politics.
Usha spent the first half of her years earning two separate degrees from Yale – her undergraduate and law degrees. She also completed a fellowship at Cambridge University.
She also litigated for nearly eight years at Munger, Tolles & Olson, which is known for its left-leaning attorneys and progressive values.
One of Usha's Yale Law classmates said: 'I never thought of her as someone who would run for office. I thought of her more as someone who'd be a partner at a law firm—definitely very successful with immense amount of power—but more behind-the-scenes power.'
'But in that way, they're the perfect combination because he always did like the spotlight.'
