Shocking surveillance footage captured the moment a grown man robbed two young children from their lemonade stand.
Surveillance footage shows a car pulling up to the stand on a driveway in Chesapeake, Virginia, when a man exits the vehicle and approaches Rebecca Caldwell, 10, and her brother, Josh.
Rebecca told NewsNation affiliate WAVY that she started to offer him lemonade when he abruptly grabbed the money jar and ran away.
'We already got $40. It seemed pretty good, and then the guy came,' Rebecca said. 'He acted really nice. He was just saying, like, 'Nice, y'all are doing a lemonade stand.' And then he was getting pretty close, but my back was turned so I didn't really realize.'
Rebecca and her brother immediately ran inside to tell their mother what happened. The suspect has yet to be identified.
A grown man in Chesapeake, Virginia robbed two young children of the money they made selling lemonade on the street
Rebecca said she started to offer him lemonade but he abruptly grabbed the money jar and ran away
'I just wanted to find out who would do that, because they're just innocent kids out here, you know, having lemonade stands,' said Annetta Caldwell, Rebecca and Josh's mother.
The siblings have hosted lemonade stands and bake sales previously and said they have never had an issue.
'It was like a hot summer day, so I thought it would be nice for people to have lemonade,' Rebecca said.
Dad Ryan Caldwell said he is worried about the lasting impact this traumatizing experience will have on his children.
'I don't think it's really even about the money,' he said. 'They just like doing it and being out here and seeing people. We don't want that stolen away from them, you know, we want the fun, the innocence, to remain. So, that's probably the worst part — the stolen innocence involved.'
The money Rebecca and Josh made was either going to go to their older sister or their savings for a dirt bike.
'I don't know if we should talk to him, part of me wants some answers,' Annetta Caldwell said.
But the little girl said she wanted to focus on compassion and forgiveness.
'We want him to become a Christian and have a good life, but we would say not go to jail, more community service, stuff like that,' she said.

Police were quick to respond to the incident and talked to Rebecca and Josh.
'They've had a lot of follow-up with us,' Ryan Caldwell said. 'They've been communicating well and stuff. So, they're very interested in helping and seeing this resolve.'
The undeterred duo said they plan to host another lemonade stand Saturday on Bells Mill Road from 10 am. until 2 pm.
