The Carolina Panthers have waived cornerback Lamar Jackson with an injury designation.

On Monday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reported the 26-year-old's waiving.

The decision came after Jackson sustained an injury during Saturday's 15-12 preseason loss to the New York Jets. If Jackson goes unclaimed on waivers, he will revert to the Panthers' injured reserve list and miss all of 2024.

However, if two parties reach an injury settlement this year, he would not be sidelined in Charlotte for the earlier part of the season.

Jackson went undrafted in 2020 before signing with the Jets on May 20. He was waived on September 5 and signed to the practice squad the following day.

Jackson's efforts eventually led to him getting elevated to the active roster on October 1 and October 10 for the Jets' Week 4 and Week 5 games against the Broncos and the Cardinals.

He joined the Bears on January 19, 2022 on a reserve/future contract but got waived out of Windy City by November 27.

Two days after getting waived by the Bears, Jackson signed to be part of the Broncos' practice squad and was promoted to the active roster on December 31. He was waived by Denver on March 20, 2023.

Jackson's final stop before ending up in Carolina was with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was a practice player from May through August of 2023.

He signed a reserve/future deal with the Panthers on January 8 this year.
