Two Good Samitarians have described the moment they chased down a kidnapper who stole a truck with a 10-year-old child inside in California.
Gernaro Cortes and his brother, who was not identified, jumped into action after hearing a father's desperate cries when a man got into his running red pickup truck with his son.
The Slymar dad was dropping something off at his neighbor's house around 7pm Monday near Bradley and Oswald Street, according to NBC Los Angeles.
'I left the truck in the driveway, and honestly, it just happened in a second,' the father, who asked to remain anonymous, told the outlet.
The thief was riding his bike down the street when he noticed the running vehicle and seized the opportunity.
The two men hopped in their car and chased after the man after flagging down a police officer.

They claim the thief began driving erratically after noticing them following.
'My brother found them and said: "Hey, that's the car,"' Cortes said. 'So I bust a U [turn], as I'm coming down, he's just going, this guy is just going.'
They followed the man through several lights before crossing several lanes to turn onto a different road.
The Cortes eventually lost the car after getting stuck at red light before finding it abandoned on Jessie Street in San Fernando, the child shaken, but safely inside, according to NBC Los Angeles.
The boy was then reunited with his father just 20 minutes after the fright began. The thief abandoned the vehicle with the boy inside in San Fernando

'I get out the car, I noticed there’s no guy there — I went straight to the kid, he was just shocked,' Cortes told NBC Los Angeles.
'He doesn’t really know me. He saw my brother and he was like "ok," he unlocked the car and I grab him and he just breaks down, and I have two kids, so I was just broken down.'
The boy was then reunited with his father just 20 minutes after the fright began.
'Thank God, the boy is safe and sound,' the father said.
No arrests have been made and police are still searching for the suspect.
