Winona Ryder recently discussed the upcoming final season of her hit Netflix sci-fi original series Stranger Things.

The 52-year-old Beetlejuice star spoke with E! News this week and gave an update,  sharing, 'We're still filming. It’s still happening till the end of the year.'

About the hugely successful show coming to an end, she added, 'It's going to be bittersweet.'

The first season of the show, which also stars Millie Bobby Brown, premiered in 2016 but the cast began shooting in 2015.

Winona reflected, 'It is the 10th year of that, which is wild. I never imagined it would, you know... it's sort of like Beetlejuice. I don't think any of us anticipated that show becoming what it did.'

Filming for Stranger Things season five got underway in early January in Atlanta, Georgia.

The final installation was previously scheduled to begin in 2023, but was halted due to the Writers Guild of America strike, which began on May 2.

Then, production was further delayed by the actors' strike.

In addition to Winona, the original cast includes Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton.

Maya Hawke also joined the show in later iterations, playing Robin Buckley.

Hawke, daughter of actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, shared on Podcrushed in June: 'We’re making, basically, eight movies. The episodes are very long.'

She added about creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, 'Our showrunners, Matt and Ross, take a lot of responsibility.

'They have an amazing team of writers, but they’re very involved. It takes a long time to write each season, and it takes a long time to shoot them.'
