Democrats give eyeroll worthy reason for why Biden was bumped from primetime as Kamala Harris is poised to upstage her own convention

Democrats gave an eyeroll-worthy reason for why President Joe Biden was bumped from primetime Monday as his Democratic National Convention address stretched until after midnight on the east coast.

There was too much clapping.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison gave that explanation Tuesday morning during an appearance on CBS Mornings.

'And part of the reason we ran a little late is because every single person got rounds of applause for what they were saying,' Harrison said.

Tuesday night has the making for more scheduling snafus, as the Demoratic ticket - Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz - will be holding an evening rally in nearby Milwaukee, Wisconsin - hoping to invigorate supporters in a vital swing state.

That rally, which is being held at the Fiserv Forum - the same venue where former President Donald Trump and Republicans held their convention just weeks before - has the potential to upstage the Democratic convention.

Harris and Walz are expected to speak around 8 p.m. CDT - amid the Democratic National Convention's day No. 2 programming.

Organizers said Harris' remarks will be piped into the United Center, where the Chicago gathering is happening.

That means scheduling will have to be just right at venues across two cities.

Monday night's DNC programming was so delayed that several acts had to be scrapped, including a musical performance by legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor.

Taylor was going to sing You've Got a Friend, which he practiced at the convention hall during a dress rehearsal earlier Monday.

Harris-Walz communications director Michael Tyler said the Democrats 'are leaving nothing to chance,' which is why the nominee is holding the rally in Milwaukee.

She'll be there to 'energize Wisconsin voters in the place Donald Trump called a "horrible city,"' Tyler also said.

In June, Trump reportedly called Milwaukee 'horrible' during a closed-door meeting with Republican members of Congress ahead of his convention.

Several MAGA-aligned lawmakers argued that the GOP nominee was referring to crime and voter fraud and wasn't using the word as a general description of the important swing state city.

The event could also annoy Trump, if Harris is able to attract a sizeable crowd.

Tyler wouldn't predict if she could get more people to come out than Trump had at the RNC in the same venue.

'I don't know what the actual capacity is but I think what you've seen over the course of the past few weeks, since the Vice President kicked off this campaign is a groundswell of enthusiasm,' Tyler told reporters Tuesday morning in Chicago.

Those who choose to come to the Milwaukee event will also get a taste of the DNC.

After Walz and Harris wrap, supporters will be invited to an outdoor party in the 'Deer District,' located just outside the Fiserv Forum, where the Milwaukee Bucks play.

There, they'll be able to watch the DNC's primetime programming, which will include speeches by former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama's first foray on the campaign trail this cycle.

'We're going to use every tool that we have at our disposal between now and November 5,' Tyler pledged.
