Team USA gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, who became known as 'pommel horse guy' after his skills on the apparatus pushed Team USA to win the team bronze medal, has been announced as the first celebrity contestant for season 33 of 'Dancing with the Stars.'

Nedoroscik, 25, launched to stardom at the Paris Olympics as the specialist helped the USA men claim their first team medal in gymnastics in 16 years, and went on to win his own individual bronze medal on the apparatus.

And now he'll be trying his hand in the dancing world, as ABC on Thursday announced on 'Good Morning America' that he will be joining 'DWTS' as the first male gymnast to compete on the show.

Nedoroscik was asked by host Robin Roberts if he'll be using any of his gymnastics moves on the dance floor.

'I'm hoping to bring some of them. I want to bring some flares, I want to bring some of that gymnastics. Maybe a back flip or hand stand. I want to have fun with it,' he said.

The former Penn State star even showed off some of his pommel moves on GMA before sitting for an interview.

Nedoroscik added that his answer was an immediate 'yes' when he was approached about doing the show, and that he was 'very excited' to get started.

The glasses-wearing gymnast, who has been likened by some to Clark Kent, was also asked if he would don his eyewear while he competed on DWTS.

'I might have fun with it. I'm scared they'll fly off is the thing,' he said. 'Maybe we can do a gadget, keep them on, maybe a new pair of glasses, match the theme.'

The remaining contestants are set to be announced at a later date.

That cast could include Eagles legend Jason Kelce, as The Sun reported that the recently-retired offensive lineman has  been offered the chance to appear on the show.

It's claimed that the 36-year-old is interested in appearing on the reality show, with Kelce said to be keen to show off his dancing skills.

The show is filmed in Los Angeles and kicks off on September 17 - two weeks after the start of the 2024 NFL season.
