Steph Curry made a shock appearance at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night to endorse Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States.

Two weeks after inspiring USA's men's basketball team to gold at the Paris Olympics, Curry featured on the big screen at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, to urge the country to vote for Harris over Republican leader Donald Trump later this year.

The American sports star first opened up on the 'honor' of capturing Olympic gold before adding in a prerecorded video message: 'That unity on and off the court reminded us all that together, we can do all things and continue to inspire the world.'

He then continued: 'That's why I believe that Kamala as President can bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward. This is about preserving hope and belief in our country, making sure families can be taken care of during the most precious times.

'I got to visit Kamala with my team at the White House last year and I can tell you one thing I knew then and definitely know now... the Oval Office suits her well.

'So in the words of Michelle Obama, do something! Go vote, be active. Let's show up in November like never before.

'It's been an honor for me to represent our country, it's an honor to support Kamala, so let's all do our part.'

Curry, whose 24-point haul helped USA see off hosts France in the men's Olympics basketball final, previously aligned himself with the Democrats during the 2020 Presidential election.

On the eve of the Paris Games he also opened up on his hope for Harris to win this year's election.

'Interesting times in our country right now,' the Golden State Warriors point guard said. 'Hopefully with her on the ticket, we’re winning the election. It’s a big deal, to say the least.'

Before the 2020 election, Curry and wife Ayesha revealed they were voting for Joe Biden ahead of Trump that year.

'We want to ensure that our kids live in a nation that is safe, happy, healthy and fair and so this election,' Ayesha said to kick the video off.

'We're voting or Joe Biden,' said Steph.

Curry has also had some run-ins with Trump in the past, turning down the chance to visit the White House during his previous stint as President in 2017.

Trump responded by withdrawing his invitation to Golden State's NBA championship winning team on Twitter (now X).

Curry is not the only member of USA's Olympics basketball team to appear at this week's Democratic National Convention, however.

On Monday night Steve Kerr, Curry's head coach for both Team USA and the Warriors, appeared on stage to endorse Harris and Tim Walz as the next President and Vice President.

Taking the stage at the United Center, the home of the Chicago Bulls - the team that Kerr won three consecutive championships with between 1996 and 1998 - the 58-year-old addressed the convention delegates in a rousing speech.

Yet, while the dominant message of the coach's address called for unity, he couldn't resist firing a shot across the aisle.

Signing off in Chicago, Kerr issued a warning to Trump just as he would to his opponents on the court, as he drew upon the iconic celebration Curry pulled out in Paris this month.

'After the results are tallied that night [November 5], in the words of the great Steph Curry we can tell Donald Trump, "Night night,"' he finished, channeling his Warriors star by performing a sleeping gesture.

Curry recently performed his signature 'Night Night' celebration in Paris during the Olympic gold medal match against the host nation - a triumph which Kerr claimed encapsulated core American ideals.

'The last time I was in a packed basketball arena it was in Paris, France,' he said. 'Nine days ago, some of the best players on Earth - 12 incredible American men - came together to win Olympic gold and the next night, I was back in that same building, watch June 12 more of the best players on Earth - our incredible American women - do the same thing.

'I cannot think of a better metaphor for what this country is all about than the way Team USA came together at the Olympics.

'We had players from across our wonderful country - players who have trained and fought relentlessly, shed tears trying to beat one another throughout their careers - joining forces to wear the red, white, and blue. And when we won, the American flag raised to the rafters and national anthem playing, gold medals draped around the necks of our players whose hands were held over their hearts, it was the proudest moment of my life.'
