Kamala Harris's vocal tic as she repeatedly thanked the crowd for over a minute while overwhelmed by the adulation at Democratic National Convention drew plenty of attention on Thursday night.
'Too many 'Thank yous,' too rapidly said, what's going on with her?' Donald Trump said, himself a seasoned practitioner of big rallies from years of campaigning.
Harris said 'Thank you' a total of 27 times before she even began her speech. She did so while thanking the ecstatic crowd for its rapturous welcome and appeared to be trying to politely stop the clapping and cheering so she could begin.
The audience could be heard cheering 'Ka-ma-la' and 'U-S-A', but Harris tried to stop them, saying 'Let's get down to business.' She ended up saying another four 'thank yous' at the start of her speech for friends and family members.
Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany's sister also noticed the apparent tic, writing: 'How many times did Kamala just say thank you?'
Haris had accused Trump of summoning the mob on January 6 and included a passage in her speech to say he was found guilty of fraud and liable for sexual abuse in court
Donald Trump and other social media users were bemused by Kamala Harris' torrent of 'thank yous' before beginning her speech
And conservative commenter Meme'nOnLibs joked: 'Kamala spending 5 minutes saying 'Thank you' because she has nothing else to say'.
Trump also amused his followers with another TruthSocial post saying 'IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?' The former president was evidently listening to the speech, with his remark likely intended in jest.
Trump also quibbled when Harris saluted running mate Tim Walz' time as a high school football coach.
'Walz was an ASSISTANT Coach, not a COACH,' Trump weighed in.
Then Trump took a shot at her biography of serving as San Francisco District Attorney before becoming California Attorney General.
'She's talking about how great San Francisco was before she destroyed it, probably not a good idea!' Trump wrote.
He couldn't help throwing in a 'WHERE'S HUNTER' line, days after the president's son appeared on stage with President Biden during his late-night speech.
He took exception to her long section on January 6, where she said he 'intends to set free violent extremists who assaulted those law enforcement officers at the Capitol' on January 6, and called out Trump for saying he would issue pardons to convicted perpetrators.
Former President Donald Trump gave Kamala Harris rotten reviews for her policies – and her delivery of her convention speech. ''Too many 'Thank yous,' too rapidly,' he said as she thanked cheering Democrats at the top of her remarks
Harris said Trump 'sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol' and 'fanned the flames' when people were begging for help.
'PEACEFULLY AND PATRIOTICALLY!' Trump posted, using words he has applied in the past toward the mob on January 6.
She also said he was 'found guilty of fraud by a jury of everyday Americans' in his New York fraud trial and 'separately found liable for committing sexual abuse,' in reference to the E. Jean Carroll verdict.
'These Prosecutions were all started by her and Biden against their Political Opponent, ME!' Trump countered.
Trump also took a dig at running mate Tim Walz
Trump offered his own comments on the speech in real time
Trump tried to pick at the scab of President Biden's absence
Republicans have rejected the 'Coach Walz' monicker and said the former high school assistant coach doesn't deserve credit for turning around football and basketball teams
He also continued to hammer Harris on immigration, as he did on a trip to the border Thursday.
'The Chaos and Calamity is allowing our Country to be infiltrated by Millions of Criminals!' Trump said.
His comments ranged from the specific to the general, as Harris plugged away at her agenda for 'freedom' and led the crowd in cheers of 'We're not going back.'
'No specific programs, ALL TALK, NO ACTION — Why didn't she do it three and a half years ago?' he said, seeking to tag Harris with some of the baggage of incumbency now that she is standing in for Joe Biden.
One of his lengthiest complaints came on abortion rights, a topic that got the crowd on its feat and has some Republicans worried Trump could suffer among suburban women.
'I do not limit access to birth control or I.V.F. - THAT IS A LIE, these are all false stories that she's making up, that I've never even heard of. It's just words coming out of her mouth. I TRUST WOMEN, ALSO, AND I WILL KEEP WOMEN SAFE! SHE WON'T, BECAUSE THE INVASION OF OUR COUNTRY AT HER OPEN BORDER IS DESTROYING THE LIVES OF WOMEN, AND THE FAMILIES AND JOBS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS AND HISPANICS.'
Democrats have spent days hammering Trump on the Project 25 agenda, rolling out stars who read from a huge printed copy to underline the point.
Trump said what his campaign has said for months about reports based on the policies developed by the outside group, which is stacked with former Trump advisors but is separate from his campaign.
'LYING AGAIN ABOUT PROJECT 2025, WHICH SHE KNOWS, AND SO DO ALL DEMOCRATS, THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH!' he wrote.
Trump's own convention speech last month in Milwaukee broke his previous record, lasting for 90 minutes, and included meandering complaints about electric vehicles discourses on the 'late, great Hannibal Lecter.'
