Team USA soccer player Lynn Williams has revealed that she broke her gold medal from the Paris Olympics while partying.

Williams, a 31-year-old forward, had previously posted pictures of her medal without the ribbon that it was meant to be attached to.

And in a new TikTok, she explained that she got 'carried away with the celebratory actions' after the USA women beat Brazil in the final.

Williams noted that she was swinging her medal around at one point - which she assumes 'didn't help' - but she said that that wasn't how the medal broke.

Instead, the Gotham FC star said she was dancing with her teammates with her medal on her shoulder 'like a little purse' when it fell to the ground.

The medal was dented and the bar which previously attached the hardware to the ribbon broke.

Williams said she's been in contact with the IOC and may be able to get it fixed, but still took a shot at the quality of the medals.

'I just think they should have made these better,' she said. 'They should have made them more sturdy. And I honestly I can't be faulted for that.'

Williams is far from the only Olympian in this year's Games to complain about the quality of the medals.

Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Team USA rugby player Ilona Maher revealed that her bronze medal was 'wearing a little bit.'

That criticism came after skater Nyjah Huston showed the state of his bronze medal days after placing third in the men's street final.

'Alright, so these Olympic medals look great when they're brand new,' he said on Instagram.

'But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and letting my friends wear it over the weekend,' he continued.

'They're apparently not as high quality as you'd think. It's looking rough.'

Team USA fencer Nick Itkin also revealed the grisly state of his bronze medal two weeks after winning it in Paris.
