Sabrina Carpenter says Adele's late-night confession about her hit song Espresso is 'mind-blowing'

Although Sabrina Carpenter has had everyone wrapped around her perfectly manicured finger for many months, the singing sensation has yet to grow accustomed to life in the limelight. 

The 25-year-old blonde beauty has taken the music industry by storm this summer with the release of two chart-topping songs: Espresso and Please, Please, Please, which was rumored to be about her romance with Barry Keoghan, with reports the pair have now split.

And the A-lister seems to have been healing her apparent broken heart by working on more addictive songs, with her new album, Short n' Sweet, being released on Friday.

On Thursday, the Because I Liked A Boy songstress appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to celebrate the release of her album and discovered that even Adele, one of the world's biggest stars, couldn't stop listening to her music. 

The star gushed over the Turning Tables hitmaker as she noted that it was 'mind-blowing' to hear Adele branding Espresso her 'jam' as she busted out a few notes from the song while at her Las Vegas Residency in May.

'Your songs have been everywhere the past few months, people can't stop singing them,' Jimmy said during the interview. 

He then revealed that the British icon was one of the many celebs who had become obsessed with Sabrina's songs. 

The host added: 'But there was a video of Adele talking about how Espresso was the last thing she thought about before she went to bed.' 

Jimmy then showed the audience and Sabrina a clip of Adele busting out a few notes from the hit song. 

In the clip, Adele gushed: 'As I got into bed last night — 'cause that's a very late night for me, normally I'm in bed by 9 p.m. — I found myself singing, "I'm working late, 'cause I'm a singer."

'That Sabrina Carpenter song!... That song is my jam!' 

As the video came to an end, Jimmy repeated Adele's praise for Sabrina - adding that he 'loved it.' 

The 25-year-old noted that she was overwhelmed with joy to learn that the British superstar loved her music.

'And that was the most mind-blowing thing to me.' 

Jimmy replied: 'It's Adele!' 

'It's Adele! One name, that's it,' Sabrina added. 

Elsewhere in the interview, the Taste hitmaker revealed her shock at learning some amazing stats about her songs. 

'You became the first artist since the Beatles to have two songs debut within the top three on the Billboard Hot 100,' Jimmy said after sharing that her songs Espresso and Please, Please, Please have been crushing it on Spotify.

'The Beatles one sounds fake,' Sabrina said.

'No, the Beatles one is real,' Jimmy said.

'But there's one of me and four of them. So I don't understand. The math doesn't math,' Sabrina quipped.

'How cool is it to be in the same sentence as the Beatles?' Jimmy asked.

'Very cool,' Sabrina said. 'That's an understatement. I don't really have the words for it. I'm just so grateful that you guys are listening. '

'I'm so small and the stage is so big so I don't really know what I will do other than I want it to be the best show for everybody that's attending,' Sabrina said.

But now according to People, their relationship is 'on and off' after the Espresso hitmaker left their relationship undefined in an interview earlier this year.

When asked by Rolling Stone if she refers to Barry as her boyfriend she said: 'How do I skirt around this question?'

'The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that's what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can't be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about.'

She concluded: 'That's something that comes with the territory.'

In June Sabrina declared she was in 'in love for the first time' amid her romance with the Oscar nominee.

Prior to his romance with Sabrina, Barry was in a two-year relationship with the dental nurse Alyson Kierans, with whom he shares his son Brando, who was born in August 2022, while Barry was filming Saltburn.
