Well-intentioned parents may encourage their children to become friends with the 'weird kid' in class, but what happens when those social outcasts turn out to be malicious rather than just misunderstood?
One mom has taken to TikTok to issue a stark warning to parents, based on her own experiences.
The Canadian content creator, who has not revealed her name and goes by her username 'skookiedoes,' has shared a disturbing story about her former friend from the sixth grade.
The concerned mother of two boys explained in her four-part TikTok series that she was considered the 'weird kid,' growing up, therefore, she was drawn to a classmate who she called 'shy and quiet like [herself, and] a little bit weird.'
She expressed to her mother that students were always 'ignoring' the girl, and that 'she wasn't in any friend groups,' and her mother innocently suggested that she 'become friends with her.'
A mom has issued a stark warning to parents who encourage their children to befriend the 'weird kid' in class
The two became 'such good friends,' and were 'inseparable,' until one day their friendship took a life-threatening turn for the content creator.
The content creator, whose video series got more than 354,819 views in total, explained that the duo would 'literally do everything together.'
One day the little girl went up to use a big pencil sharpener on the wall in class, and while doing so, she gave her a 'blank expression in her eyes.'
Next the girl smiled at her and the influencer did the same, recalling that she was 'clueless' about what was going to happen next.
She added that 'she didn't think anything crazy would happen obviously.'
The content creator explained: 'She came walking down the aisle and punched the pencil into my chest as hard as she could and I ended up not breathing.
'So luckily, she hit my sternum, but they definitely thought that she was trying to kill me.
'I had literally no time to react. I didn't even know this was gonna happen.
'She missed hitting my midsection which would have been really bad, I'm sure.
'It went through my shirt. It went into my chest, so it was just a bit of blood.
'She hit me so hard. She was a lot bigger too. I was very, very small - like 90 pounds.
'So when she hit me, I got sent flying back. Like my chair flipped over and that's all I really remember.
'I don't know if it was like a trauma thing or what, but I basically just blacked out, woke up in the principal's office - the paramedics, my parents, everyone was kind of there like, "oh my god."
'They were all staring at me like wide-eyed - just freaked out.'
She continued: 'She ended up leaving the school and I never saw her at that school again, but I did see her in the future at a different school, and she used to come into my work when she found out where I worked.
'Like years later, she would come into my work and watch me. Honestly it was very scary as well.'
In one of the videos she clarified that her definition of 'weird' is 'off-putting.'
She added: 'I was a little bit weird. I was probably off-putting to people, because I just really wanted to make friends, so I'm sure there are situations like that, where that is the case, but it wasn't the case with her.
'I'm just using "weird" because I don't want to diagnose her.
There is certainly nothing wrong with being quirky - not all social outcasts harbor violent tendencies, and indeed sometimes popular kids can be even more dangerous.
'But I just felt really bad for her because she had no one to play with, so I was like, "why don't I go play with her?"
A Canadian content creator, who has not revealed her name and goes by her username 'skookiedoes,' has shared a disturbing story about her former friend from the sixth grade
The content creator explained what occurred post-injury and said: 'No we didn't take any legal action. We didn't take any action to be honest. We didn't press charges because we felt really bad for her.
'She had a horrible home-life situation and after this she actually ended up getting sent to a group home, allegedly because her parents just thought that she was out of control or whatever they thought.
'I just felt really bad for her and I really did not want her to get into any trouble. I'm pretty sure I begged my parents to not get mad at her or not get mad at her parents.
'To this day, I still feel really bad for her and I don't know if I should or not.'
The content creator revealed that the girl left the school and added: 'She did end up stabbing another person the year later.
'She ended up stabbing a girl in the arm with a mechanical pencil this time. She was allowed to come back to that school.'
The influencer was left with a scar that was 'always itchy,' and when she was 24, she went to aggressively scratch it in the shower and a 'chunk of graphite came out,' which doctors confirmed wasn't harmful.
What once was a 'larger gray scar,' became barely visible over time.
The influencer added that the girl appeared on her 'TikTok For You' page years later.
She shared that the girl was making 'anime thirst traps for a while,' and that she blocked her, however, the girl no longer has any social media.
She expressed to her mother that students were always 'ignoring' the girl, and that 'she wasn't in any friend groups,' and her mother innocently suggested that she 'become friends with her'
The content creator explained that years later at her job at David's Tea, she was using a ladder to put something up on the shelf and she suddenly felt 'the most uncomfortable feeling [she'll] ever felt in [her] entire life.'
She added: 'I don't know what came over me, but I just had the sudden urge to turn around.'
Turns out the girl was standing right behind her on the other side of the divider, and the influencer impersonated her staring at her with an open-wide jaw.
She explained that she immediately 'recognized her because she didn't look any different.'
The influencer added that 'after that day, she would come in all the time,' and she 'pretended like she didn't know her,' out of fear of her 'retaliating.'
The girl had another friend that the influencer called 'crazy,' who was over six-feet tall and was 'built like a 's*** brick house.'
The content creator said the girl's friend 'body checked [her] into the wall,' in a hallway by her job while no one was around.
She thought she 'would die,' however security saved her.
The young girl however ended up constantly coming into the store while it was crowded and would just 'stand in the corner [and] watch [her].'
The content creator said it made her 'so incredibly uncomfortable.'
The influencer concluded that its been years since that incident and she moved to another country and doesn't know what happened to the girl.
