A nine-month-old baby died inside a hot car after being left in there by their grandmother for eight hours.

The unidentified baby was found by their grandmother, who was seen by police clutching the unresponsive child in her arms just after 4pm on Wednesday.

The baby had been left in the car outside of the East Flournoy home since 8:30am.

'The parents were at work. The grandmother had custody of the child at that time,' Beeville Assistant Police Chief Richard Cantu Jr. told Kris 6 News

The child is believed to have died before the grandmother found them in the car, according to KHOU 11.

No charges have been filed against the grandmother, who reported entered the hospital on Thursday with a severe medical condition, the outlet said.

'There's no charges being filed at this time. We make sure we have enough information that will fit the element of a crime for an offense before any charges are filed,' Cantu said.

A preliminary investigation determined that the 'child's grandmother had left the child in the rear seat of her car in the child safety seat,' a statement said.

The child's death is being investigated by Beeville Police, as well as the Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers.

Cantu warns residents to 'be more aware of who we have in the vehicle' as the temperatures continue to rise.

'Due to the triple-digit heat, the humidity, we need to be more cautious of who we leave in the vehicle, even pets,' he told KHOU 11.

This is the second hot car death in a week and nearly 30 have died in the US this year, according to Kids and Cars

More than 1,000 kids have died in these incidents over the last three decades.

The child's death comes a day after a 1-year-old child died after their mother forgot to drop the kid off at daycare in Corpus Christi.

A Florida mother, Martine Louis-Jacques, 62, was accused of child neglect without great bodily harm after leaving her five-year-old son in a hot car while she shopped at Walmart.

Police said the boy, who was not identified, was 'scared and distraught' after being left in the vehicle for around 20 minutes while his mother shopped.

'The Walmart employees observed the child [redacted] unsupervised inside of the vehicle, which was completely shut off with all the windows up,' it read.

The mother and son duo left the store after being reunited and she was later arrested for the incident.
