Jennifer Lopez didn't give up on her marriage to Ben Affleck easily.
The Let's Get Loud singer, 55, spent months trying to salvage her relationship but in the end she couldn't get past the 'darkness' in him.
'She loves him, she will always love him, that's the problem,' a source close to the Wedding Planner actress told Page Six.
'Ben has a darkness to him that no other person can fix. Jen Garner couldn't fix it, all the success in the world couldn't fix it,' the source continued.
J-Lo reportedly hoped Ben would show up to her Bridgerton-themed 55th birthday bash in the Hamptons, but he didn't.

'She truly believed this was the greatest love story she’d ever known and she was finally getting her chance at the fairy tale,' the insider claimed.
The source added: 'She just really didn’t stop to consider who the actual man was in the fairy tale.'
The Marry Me star filed for divorce from the Argo director earlier this week on the second anniversary of their 2022 wedding.
The divorce petition revealed their date of separation as April, but even after Ben moved out of their $68 million Beverly Hills mansion, Lopez didn't give up on him.
'She gave this everything she had; her whole heart. She would have done anything to make this work,' the outlet reported.
'She opened herself up to criticism, ridicule and countless naysayers who told her this was a bad idea, that it was doomed, that there was a reason it didn’t work the first time,' the source said.
'But she didn’t want to believe it— she truly believed love would conquer all.'
Jennifer broke her social media silence on Friday, posting for the first time since she filed for divorce.
Rather than sharing new content, the singer reposted a selfie on her Instagram Story that she previously took that had been shared by a fan account.
