Single British women are sharing the things men do and say on dates that turn them off immediately.

From complaining about exes to littering, being boastful and even bringing up sex early on in the conversation, the list of faux-pas that guarantee they won't get a second date is endless.

Women said they are instantly given 'the ick' by men who have dirty fingernails, chew with their mouths open or vocally support controversial figures like Andrew Tate and Joe Rogan.

'British women, what instantly makes you disinterested in a man?' someone asked in a Reddit post

'So, you've struck up a conversation with a man, he is attractive and his physique is to your liking but he reveals something that has you recoiling in horror, feeling uneasy or losing interest. What was it?'

The question drew in hundreds of replies from single women looking for love with one admitting she has no patience for bad drivers.

'Especially if they think they're fantastically skilled as they go wide on corners, grind the gears, cut people up, refuse to give way, and constantly tap the brakes for no reason at all on a straight 60 road when they're already only topping out at 45. That's a major no-no for me. Massive pet peeve,' she said.

Many ladies said they were turned off by a man who tries to impress them with superficial things.

'Boasting about how smart, wealthy or attractive he is,' one woman answered and another added: '(My date) brought up his dad's incredibly successful real estate business'.

'I hate show-offs, braggers and men who think having money makes them important or impressive. Work-wise, if they worked in finance or something similar or they're a chef, big no for me,' a third chimed in.

Single females did not want to hear about Andrew Tate, Joe Rogan, Jordan Petersen or Elon Musk for their divisive stances on women and women's issues.

'I literally stopped seeing a guy over this...I use Andrew Tate now as a gauge to whether the conversation will continue or not,' someone answered.

'I went on a date...The first thing he does is make fun of my religion and then talks about how women belong in the kitchen unironically and how that's what God would want. Yeah, left ASAP,' another woman recalled.

Smoking, being rude to waitstaff, littering, spitting, having a short temper and even wearing tracksuits were enough to send some women running for the hills on a date.

'Big muscles. I just don't find them attractive, so I'll leave him to a woman who does because plenty do,' one user replied.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GET 'THE ICK'?

'The ick' is a term made popular on TikTok and Instagram to describe that feeling when attraction turns into a sudden, cringing disgust toward another person, often in a budding romance.

Common examples of ick triggers are bad hygiene, arrogance, and rudeness - but many have reported seemingly innocuous things like walking with a wide gait, sleeping on navy blue sheets, or even abbreviating breakfast to 'brekkie.'

A second commented: 'Asking me if I know who the band on my shirt is'.

'Littering. If he is happy to drop litter, I am more than happy to drop him immediately,' a third added.

'Bad hygiene such as bad breath or dirty nails,' a woman answered.

Some women said got the ick when men brought up the topic of sex far too quickly either while chatting on a dating app or during a meet-up.

'Trying to be sexual almost immediately - I met you an hour ago, stop,' someone said.

'Even worse when you try to steer the conversation away from that and even straight up say you're uncomfortable discussing sex early on and they somehow still don't get the message. Kills a conversation dead,' a second explained.

Talking about an ex-girlfriend is a major no-no for many women, especially when a man speaks about a former partner in a negative light.

Also on the 'red flag list' was when a man is judgemental to strangers around him.

'Nasty comments about appearance, of myself or anyone else around me. Usually indicates a mean-spirited personality,' one user explained.

'Comparing me to other women... Things like 'I like how you don't wear a lot of makeup unlike other women', or basically any compliment that puts other people down in the process,' another wrote.

'If they can't compliment me without putting down other women, it's a huge ick and will make me think the guy has weird issues with women in general.'

Women also gave men who were immature and needy or didn't like animals a big thumbs down.

Negging was another common dating habit men sometimes display on dates that turned women off.

The practice is when you give someone a backhanded compliment and was popularised by YouTube pickup artists.

More answers included saying they were 'not political' on their dating profile as well as constantly interrupting someone talking, wearing too much cologne, talking about work too much and referring to women as 'females'.
