An American man was deported from Colombia after he attempted to force himself inside a closed aircraft because he had missed his flight.

The passenger, whose name has not been released, went berserk at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá on Friday after he arrived late for his LATAM flight, according to the Colombian Air Workers Association.

After he was told that he couldn't board Flight 4090 to Cartagena, he allegedly assaulted the staff and made his way down the jet bridge and approached the closed aircraft.

Shocking video filmed by a male passenger on board showed the crazed passenger kicking the door being to be let in.

'Don't you dare,' he told a concerned flight crew member, 'You just remain calm and breathe.'

An airport worker could be seen in the background waiting for police assistance to arrive while the passenger paced around and then hit an airplane window.

He continued to kick the plane's door and then directed his anger by kicking a wall with his open toe sandal.

After another series of kicks at the airplane door and nearly breaking a control panel, he approached the window and shouted 'I want to get in.'

His strange behavior went further as he knelt and begged, 'I want to get in please,' while he held his passport and boarding pass on one hand and banged on the window with the other.

The man was eventually restrained by the police, airline personnel and security and taken to an immigration office.

He attacked one of the agents during the proceedings and was later deported.

'This disruptive passenger initially assaulted ground staff after being informed that the flight had already closed and he had arrived late,' Daniel Gallo, president of the Colombian Air Workers Association, said in a statement. 'He forcibly attempted to enter the boarding bridge and, failing to do so, punched the main door and windows of the aircraft.'

Gallo urged the Colombian government to consider enacting stricter laws to prosecute unruly passengers.

'This man had aggressive behavior that put the staff and other travelers at risk, and he also did not comply with travel regulations,' he said. 'We continue to call on the National Government and Congress to take urgent and severe measures against these passengers, who are becoming more frequent every day.'

LATAM declined a DailyMail.com request for comment.
