Stacey Solomon, Gino D'Acampo and even Carrie Johnson are embracing ducks as pets to the delight of their Instagram followers

The days of celebrities adopting expensive exotic pets are over with many now opting for the humble farmyard animal, the duck, instead.

Rather than filling their homes with dogs, cats, or the more luxurious pony pet, a number of famous individuals have chosen to rescue and raise pet ducks.

From Olympians to chefs, TV hosts and actors, the beaked pond goers are rapidly becoming one of the most popular household pets. 

One of those hopping in the trend pond is Stacey Solomon, who recently took to Instagram to share some sweet snaps of families latests tenants - a pair of ducks.

The mother-of-five revealed that she had adopted one white and on brown duck, called Daisy and Delilah, to join her in her home at Pickle Cottage alongside her husband, Joe Swash.

Stacey wrote on her Instagram: 'POV... you've been away from your soul mates for two weeks and finally get to see them in real life instead of FaceTime'

In the picture shared to social media, Stacey's web toed pets are perched cosily on one of the pets in her Essex cottage

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: 'Daisy & Delilah Solomon-Swash. So our ducks are gorgeous feather girlies & now finally we can name them. Honestly these little duckies have brought so much joy to our lives. They're so loving and cuddly and just the most amazing addition to our family!

'Can't wait to complete pickle cottage pond & maybe adopt some more feathered friends. Things are starting to get a little more even around pickle cottage. 6 boys 5 girls now counting all dogs ducks and humans.'

Another to have found themselves the owner of a pair of duckling is the Italian chef, Gino D'Acampo, who recently took to Instagram to share a clip of him lying on his sofa with two fluffy ducklings scampering around on his chest.

He captioned the picture: 'My two ducklings have finally hatched… Any name suggestions?' to which several took to the comments to offer their suggestions for duck names.

One suggested 'Vino and Gino' while another offered 'Fred and Gordon'. A third jokingly said 'Pecorino and Pecorina?'

In the clip, while several clamber over his chest, he strokes their fluffy heads while saying 'look over that' towards the camera in fatherly like gesture.

The former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is another to have had his home invaded by ducklings after his wife, Carrie Johnson, adopted two butter yellow babies into their home.

Boris and his three children with Carrie, presented her with a series of duck eggs and an incubator for her 36th birthday present in April earlier this year.

Carrie was given expert advice from her friend, Luisa Zissman, on how to take care of the ducks.

Writing on Instagram, she wrote: 'Day 2 of ducklings. We’ve got 3 and they’re all still alive! …And I’m exhausted.

'Daff and Wally seem to be thriving while Donny is plodding on slowly but surely! With special thanks to @luisazissman for all the expert duckling advice. We might not quite have Quackington Palace here, but I’m doing my best to give these wee ducklings the 5 star treatment. Pray for Donny!'

The mother-of-three took to the app to share a picture of Daff and Wally perched in a single mug with their tiny heads popping out the top. 

The family are already an owner of five ducks: Twiglet, Gherkin, Black Head, Turbo and Pickle, who live with them in their £3.8million home in Oxfordshire, complete with a sprawling pond. 

After Australian skateboarder, Arisa Trew won gold at the Paris Olympics earlier this summer, she insisted that the only thing she wanted as reward was a pet duck.

The youngest Australian to win gold in Paris, when was asked after her win what she wanted as a reward for her win, she said: 'Ducks are really cute and I really wanted a pet duck'.

Though it's not clear yet whether the 14-year-olds dreams have yet come true. 

Across the pond in the US, the Mama Mia actress, Amanda Seyfried is the proud owner of a number of ducks where she lives on a farm in the Catskills Mountains of New York

Across the pond in the US, the Mama Mia actress, Amanda Seyfried is the proud owner of a number of ducks where she lives on a farm in the Catskills Mountains of New York.

In one picture uploaded to the actresses Instagram, she is sen cuddling up to her pet duck.

In 2021, the actress said her dog, an Aussie-Border Collie mix, called Finn, had even befriended one of the ducklings on her her husband, the actor Thomas Sadoski's farm in the mountains. 

The actress said the two were such good friends that the ducking was often seen perched on the top of Finn's head. 

The couple are owners to a multiplicity of pets including horses, donkeys, cows, ducks, dogs, goats, and many more.

The American business woman, Martha Stewart, is also the owner of a number of animals including cats, dogs, horses, peacocks, ducks, geese, chickens, canaries.

Martha is a lifelong lover of animals and has owned previously owned a gaggle of geese when she was younger.
