A New Jersey teen was killed after hitting a boat propeller as she tried to get on the vessel from a raft.
Zeina Mahafzah, 18, was struck in the waters off Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars Boro, Ocean County around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
New Jersey State Police said Mahafzah was on a raft being pulled by a boat and while attempting to board the vessel, she was fatally struck by the propeller.
It is unknown how many people were on board and who was driving the boat, but NBC Philadelphia reported that medics evaluated others on board who witnessed the teen's death.
'As the investigation is in its preliminary stages, we ask that you keep the family and community in your thoughts and prayers,' Harvey Cedars Police Department said.

Mahafzah recently graduated from Wayne Hills High School and was set to attend Rutgers University.
In a Wayne Hills class of 2024 college decision video she wore a red t-shirt and said she was going into college as an undecided major.
'We have been in contact with the family and are respecting their wishes, so we have no comment at this time,' Wayne Township Superintendent Mark Toback told NJ.com.

In June, a boat driver killed a young woman by turning too fast and slamming her into another vessel while she was tubing.
Kaileigh Seidel, 24, died on June 22 from injuries she suffered in the collision on the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon.
Police said she was 'thrown' from the boat around 8pm, but her friend Millie Lovea, who was on board watching helplessly, blamed the driver.
Lovea said the driver was 'whipping back and forth through the river' and took a turn too fast, flinging the tube - and Seidel - into the other boat.
