He later played the tape for Seymour Stein, Billy Idol, and Nona Hendryx as he tried to help secure her a record deal.
The music producer also began working with Korean reggae artist Skull, who was the first Korean artist to receive strong support in the US.
Morgan was also a fitness trainer in Los Angeles and featured in numerous men's fitness magazines.
However Mariah and Morgan haven't spoken properly since 1994 when they had a huge argument.

In a heartbreaking statement the singer announced the deaths of her mum Patricia, 87, and sister Alison, 63 on Monday after they both passes away on the same day
Describing a fight between him and her parents, Mariah wrote in her book: 'It took twelve cops to pull my brother and father apart. The big bodies of men, all entangled like a swirling hurricane, crashed loudly into the living room.
'I was a little girl with very few memories of a big brother who protected me. More often, I felt I had to protect myself from him, and sometimes I would find myself protecting my mother from him too.'
She added in another passage: 'Suddenly there was a loud, sharp noise, like an actual gunshot.
'My brother had pushed my mother with such force that her body slammed into the wall, making a loud cracking sound.'
Mariah also wrote that her mother had told her Morgan was dealing drugs, including cocaine.
The star added a well-known photographer had also told her similar, as had a hairstylist.
However Morgan denied the violent incidents ever happened or that he sold drugs.
However after attempting to sue Mariah, the court dismissed 14 of the 16 claims and denied his appeal.
Mariah also wrote about her sister in the book, as she claimed Alison 'gave her Valium, tried to pimp her out and threw a cup of boiling hot tea on her causing third-degree burns' at 12-years-old.
Meanwhile Morgan and Mariah clashed over Alison's health, as her brother believed the singer could financially help her sister amid her addiction problems.
After Alison spent time in a mental hospital in New York back in 2016, Morgan told Daily Mail Online: 'Because Mariah has not found it in her heart to help Alison get the care she requires there are times when Alison forgets or is unable to take her medication and this sometimes precipitates problematic behavior.'
He added: 'The worst is yet to come and Mariah has it in her power to at least ensure a soft landing and avoid a life time of regret about missing this opportunity to forgive and help her only sister.'
'I would be hopeful, although I am not encouraged by the past, that Mariah would step up because she's in a position to step up.
'We're talking about small change to these people, her fiancé is a billionaire. The least they could do is put Alison in a good hospital and make sure she gets the care she needs.
'Mariah is the one person in the family who could actually make a real meaningful difference to Alison's life.'
Morgan also said flew from Maui to be at his sister's bedside when she took a turn for the worse, but Alison's mother and sister didn't show.
It is now believed Morgan lives in Italy with his wife Ilaria Negrini Carey.
