The cap worn by Scottie Scheffler on the day of his infamous arrest sold for thousands of dollars in an auction over the weekend.
On May 17, Scheffler was detained on his way to Valhalla to make his tee time during the PGA Championship. Fans woke up in the morning to pictures of him in handcuffs and a mugshot.
After the unexpected turn, Scheffler walked into a loud reception and finished the day near the top of the leaderboard.
Months later, the simple white Nike golf cap sold at a Kids Cancer Alliance charity auction for a whopping $2,375.
While four figures is a far stretch to pay for a cap, the story behind the piece holds plenty of value - sitting on Scheffler's head after a remarkable performance from the day that will be remembered in history.

Scheffler got out and made his 10:08am tee time. He birdied the first hole and shot a 5-under 66 at the Championship.
It was revealed that a fatal accident involving a pedestrian happened outside the club at 5.09am. With the heavy traffic caused by the accident, Scheffler got caught in a misunderstanding, which led to him dragging an officer with his vehicle.
Upon his release, Scheffler detailed the incident on his Instagram story.
'This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers, he wrote. 'It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do.

He finished the tournament in a four-way tie in eighth place. He has since won the Memorial Tournament and Traveler's Championship, making six wins in 2024 with one tournament left to play.
