Brittany Mahomes clicked the 'like' button under an Instagram post supporting presidential candidate Donald Trump last week and has spent the ensuing days being alternately vilified or lionized for doing so.

On Tuesday it was conservative firebrand and sports podcaster Jason Whitlock who weighed in, saying that the wife of Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes is now one of his 'favorite people connected to the NFL.'

'Brittany Mahomes, I got to admit, she is about to my favorite football fan, favorite football wife,' Whitlock said.

Not everyone has been so supportive to Brittany, who simply liked a post displaying a 20-point platform that included everything from border control and canceling the electric vehicle mandate to Trump's hope for 'new and record levels of success.'

'Why is anyone surprised a family worth over $100 Million would support a president that will only serve the ultra wealthy?' one person wrote on X, echoing a complaint shared by other Trump critics.

Whitlock not only applauded Brittany for supporting his preferred candidate, Trump, but also commended the pregnant mother of two on her response to the criticism.

'And now she's gotten some heat because she liked some Instagram post supporting Donald Trump, and then she doubled down and posted a response,' he continued before reading Brittany's reaction.

'To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,' Brittany wrote to her online critics, as read by Whitlock. 'There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.'

Whitlock admittedly found Brittany to be irritating before she liked the pro-Trump post.

However, after she clicked the heart icon on Instagram, Brittany now finds herself in Whitlock's favor.

'She went from being from this annoying wife, to now one of my favorite people connected to the NFL,' he said.

'I think it's a smart play, too,' Whitlock continued, dolling out credit to Brittany's husband and others.

'I think some people, someone has told these athletes that doing all this fake, woke stuff doesn't enhance your popularity and if you actually want to be a tiny bit of a rebel.

'I don't think she does this without Patrick being in the loop and knowing about it and being OK with it – I think it's a great look.'

A former Kansas City Star reporter who was briefly suspended in 1998 for heckling Chiefs fans, Whitlock hasn't always been the biggest Brittany Mahomes supporter. For instance, he described her in April as 'not the most polished person.'

But on Tuesday, Whitlock left little ambiguity: He likes Brittany and approves of her marriage to Patrick.

'I've already been leaning this direction, I said it several months ago, I said I kind of like the way Patrick doesn't go anywhere without his wife,' said Whitlock, a 57-year-old bachelor and relationship expert. 'He's really into his wife, and I respect that.

'People took it some sort of way that I was calling her less-than ideal or less-than attractive,' he continued, referring to his comment from April.

'But she's an attractive woman. He clearly loves this woman, he doesn't go anywhere without her. He's not someone who came to the NFL and ditched his high school or college girlfriend and traded in for a super model. It's, like, real.'
