Parents at a Pennsylvania school are outraged over the 'extreme' school volleyball practice that left their children covered in bruises and blisters.

As record-breaking temperatures continue, school districts across the nation are implementing extra precautions to protect students. However, parents are accusing their the volleyball coach at Woodland Hills High School of putting their child's health at risk.

Will Safran, a Woodland Hills parent, is furious after his daughter returned from volleyball practice with severe hand injuries.

The coach reportedly required players to complete 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups each night and send videos to her. Because some failed to comply, the coach allegedly made the entire team 'do a lap around the track of burpees and a lap around the track of bear crawls, he told local ABC affiliate WTAE.

'It was 95 degrees. Their hands are directly on the ground, on the rough ground. All the girls were getting cuts and blisters on their hands and when they tried to ask to stop or do it in the grass, they said 'if you ask again you will get another lap,' Safran told WPXI.

'It's child abuse, it basically is child abuse that's the way I see it,' Safran told WPXI.

'When I picked my daughter up her and her best friend showed me their hands — their broken blisters — still blisters all black and dirt under the blisters.'

Safran is outraged that a coach with only a month on the job would treat high school students in such a manner.

He has reported the incident to the district and demanded the coach be dismissed.

'The District is aware, investigating and the matter is confidential,' Woodland Hills School Superintendent Daniel Castagna told WTAE in an email.

The district has acknowledged the complaint and is investigating, but the details remain confidential.

Tuesday's practice was canceled as parents met to seek answers.

'This isn't the Army. These are just little girls,' Safran said.

Following the meeting, Safran reported that the coach had resigned.

The school's athletic director apologized to parents and the team is now searching for a new coach.
