Residents of Kansas City are outraged over the senseless killing of beloved Irish chef Shaun Brady as crime continues to trend upward in the city.
Brady, 44, was killed outside his own Kansas City business as he tried to stop burglars from breaking into a car on Wednesday evening in the Brookside neighborhood.
Now, residents are complaining that not enough is being done to stop the increase in crime in the city and it's leaving some of them sleepless.
'I didn't sleep last night. This is something that's still new,' maintenance worker, Billy Woods, told Fox 4 Kansas City.
Brady - a native of Tipperary County, Ireland - was a large part of the city's annual Irish Fest
Police say he was confronted by a group of teenagers at around 5.18pm
Residents continue to watch break-ins and car thefts continue to rise, including crimes done in broad day, leaving residents angry and shaken.
Last week, a car drove into a CBS's store front window and police believe the driver intended to steal from the establishment's ATM, Fox 4 said.
Brady was shot in the middle of the day after he spotted two teenagers attempting to steal a car that was parked behind his restaurant while he was taking out the trash.
Their interaction escalated into a shooting and Brady lost his life, officials said. He was found unconscious with multiple bullet wounds, The Kansas City Star said.

Brady was apparently trying to stop one of them from breaking into a vehicle when he was shot
The chef was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He leaves behind a wife and kid.
One juvenile has been charged with second-degree murder for Brady's death, as well as counts of car theft and armed criminal.
'He was a super sweet guy,' Sarah Sahli, who operates floral shop Bergamot & Ivy, told Fox 4. 'He would come in and get flowers. He was always really generous with us when we went to get food.
'He will definitely be missed. He was a really nice guy.'
'He was very giving and willing to help anyone out. He would have given you the shirt off his back. It’s just heart-wrenching to see him go down the way he did.
'I’ve lost a true friend,' Woods told the outlet.
