Miss Teen USA star fires back at J.D. Vance for using embarrassing resurfaced video
Former Miss Teen USA contender Caitlin Upton is calling VP hopeful J.D. Vance 'shameful' for resurfacing an embarrassing clip of her to mock Kamala Harris' first primetime interview as the Democratic nominee.
Then 18-year-old Upton stumbled over an answer at the 2007 pageant sparking a cringeworthy moment captured on video.
The humiliating footage went viral, and in a 2015 New York Magazine interview Upton said the notoriety had led to 'dark moments' and suicidal thoughts.
Trump's running mate Vance posted the clip of her response comparing it to Kamala Harris' answers during her first interview with CNN on Thursday evening.
'I have gotten ahold of the full Kamala Harris CNN interview,' he quipped on X.

Harris was ripped to shreds for her 'word salad' CNN softball interview by ex-Obama official David Axelrod and others.
Now, Upton is taking to X to slam Vance for resurfacing the video that led to a decline in her mental health.
'It’s a shame that 17 years later this is still being brought up,' she writes.
'There’s not too much else to say about it at this point. Regardless of political beliefs, one thing I do know is that social media and online bullying needs to stop.'
Upton seemingly contemplated suicide following the incident, which Vance says he wasn't aware of.
He was asked to respond to Upton's accusations of 'online bullying' during an interview on CNN Friday morning.
'My heart goes out to her and I hope she’s doing well,' he replied, adding that he has said 'a lot of stupid things on camera.'
'The best way to deal with it is to laugh at ourselves,' he stated.
'There’s nothing that says that we can’t tell some jokes along the way while we deal with the very serious business of bringing back our public policy,' he told CNN's John Berman.
Harris' critics said she failed to address during the interview with CNN's Dana Bash three issues that plague her campaign: the border crisis, red-hot inflation and the Biden health cover-up.

David Axelrod, a former Obama strategist, gave a brutal verdict in CNN's post-game analysis, stating that Harris hadn't 'moved the ball forward that much.'

Axelrod said Harris was forced to straddle the precarious position of taking 'credit for the things that are good and to try and walk away from the things that are not.'

New York Times political reporter Astead Herndon agreed and conceded: 'I don't think there's a policy separation that [the Harris campaign has] created with Biden.'
On the economy, Harris attempted to blame Trump for 'price gouging' on groceries - a line on inflation that has been rebuked by Wall Street as it ignores the huge increases across many commodities, not least gas, since 'Bidenomics' took hold.
