Arch Manning did not start Texas' season opener against Colorado State, but he got plenty of time to shine.

The Longhorns destroyed the Rams 52-0 on Saturday night. With the game well in hand, Manning came into the game in place of starting quarterback Quinn Ewers in the third quarter.

Manning led the final three Longhorn drives of the day, with the first two ending in touchdowns.

In the debut play of his season, Manning found receiver Johntay Cook II for a 40-yard gain to put Texas less than 10 yards from the end zone.

Three plays later, Manning worked his magic again, avoiding a sack and dumping the ball off to Silas Bolden, who scampered beyond the goal line for the touchdown.

Manning was not done finding the end zone, as he capped off his next drive with a 1-yard rushing score.

The Texas' backup quarterback comes with certain expectations based on his last name.

While Steve Sarkisian has understandably made the decision to not start Manning, due to having one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Ewers, the potential in the Longhorns quarterback room cannot be understated.

Arch has shown he is more like Archie Manning when playing the game due to his size and mobility, than either one of his Super Bowl-winning uncles, Peyton and Eli.

Manning likely has a road to be Texas' starter next season as Ewers may jump to the NFL, despite having one year of eligibility remaining.

The Longhorns face a stiff test in Week 2, when they'll travel to face national champions Michigan.
