Mom-of-10 who became a grandma aged 36 reveals how she takes care of her large brood and the hefty amount she spends on groceries every month

A mom-of-10 who became a grandmother at age 36 has lifted the lid on her hectic home life - including the whopping amount she spends on groceries and the hate she receives online. 

Ashley, 38, and Jerry Couzens, 40, from the US, are no strangers to chaos as they are often greeted with a full house when they come home to their 10 kids. 

Having been nicknamed the 'Couzens Dozen,' the mom and dad have opened up on what it's really like to have so many children while speaking to Truly. 

The couple revealed that they often splash out a whopping $1,400 on groceries and eat out every month - before also detailing how they felt when their then-18-year-old daughter told them she was pregnant. 

Ashley and Jerrod also detailed the cruel words from strangers who accuse them of 'overpopulating' the world as well as having children to get 'money from the government.'

'All I know is chaos and shenanigans,' Ashley said at the beginning of the clip. 

Ashely and Jerrod revealed that they have six girls: Alex, 21, Ashlyn, 19, Ava, 15, Adayah, 11, Aila, nine, and Adora, one.  

The parents also have four boys: Tre, 21, Jerzy, 13, Jett, 12, and Jrue, two.

The family revealed that they are often referred to as the 'Couzens Dozen' due to their large brood. 

Speaking about her 10 kids, Ashley admitted: 'I think they were all surprises along the way.'

As she cooked up breakfast for her children, she confessed that she doesn't usually make them a morning meal because she doesn't cook often but when she does cook them breakfast, it's usually only on 'weekends.'

The mom also shared that the family spends much of their funds on dining out. 

Ashley admitted that they spend $1,400 a month on eating out before adding that their grocery bill comes to about the same - making the total food costs a whopping $2,800.

Because of their large family, the parents take different approaches - with Ashley being the kinder parent while Jerrod is the 'hammer.'

Their oldest daughter, Alexis, got pregnant with her child when she was 18 - making her parents grandparents before they hit age 40.

Ashley explained: 'When I found out that my oldest was pregnant there was a split second there that I was taken back like, "Oh my gosh, why would she do this to me." 

'But that quickly went away and we jumped in as mama bear and papa bear to help her be the best mom that she could be.'

Meanwhile, Alexis admitted that she wasn't 'scared' to tell her parents because they are 'chill.'

However, Ashley revealed that the judgment doesn't bother her and she pays it no mind because she is happy with her family

Ashley revealed that sharing their life online has been great for the most part but admitted that there are a lot of negative aspects to it. 

She said: 'Some of the negativity I've received was that I'm receiving a lot of money from the government because we have so many children, that I'm just having children to receive money from the government. 

'[People] think I have a whole bunch of boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, baby daddies, etc when I only have just one.' 

She also noted that people have referred to her as a 'dog breeder' and accused her of 'child abuse.' 

However, Ashley revealed that the judgment doesn't bother her and she pays it no mind because she is happy with her family.
