The Kansas City Chiefs were hailed by one of their stars and fans for a 'classy' move after placing a player on the non-football injury list on Monday,
Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was placed on the NFI list to deal with severe PTSD and mental health issues. While the LSU product would miss four games at the beginning of the season, the Chiefs decided to keep him on the payroll as he deals with mental hardships.
The organization's kind gesture caught the eye of one teammate, standout defensive end Chris Jones, who took to social media to praise the Chiefs.
'Classy move....' Jones wrote on X as other fans flooded the comments with
'Chiefs are always ahead of the game when it comes to how they treat their players,' one user added.

A third user commended the Hunt family for the gesture, writing: 'Sometimes it’s just right, to do the right thing. Kudos to the Hunt family.'
Edwards-Helaire is entering his fifth season with the reigning Super Bowl Champions. The Chiefs selected him with the 32nd pick in 2020 and he quickly established himself as their premier running back in his rookie campaign.
Unfortunately, his role has diminished with each season that followed.

In 2023, Edwards-Helaire had career lows, attempting 70 rushes for 223 yards and one touchdown. As a result, he dropped the starting position to Isaiah Pacheco, who tallied 375 carries, 1,765 yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns over the last two seasons.
The Chiefs will open their season on September 5 by hosting the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium.
