Donald Trump reveals how he really feels about Joe Rogan and whether he'll go on his podcast

Many avid podcast listeners have longed for popular conversationalist, stand up comedian and UFC commentator Joe Rogan to interview former President Donald Trump.

But Trump revealed Tuesday that he has not been invited on Rogan's podcast and seemed less than enthused when asked if he would have a taped interview with him. 

Rogan has said he doesn't plan to have Trump join his show because he doesn't want to help the candidate and unintentionally influence people to vote for him.

But the podcast host was forced to roll back what was widely seen as an endorsement of former Independent candidate RFK Jr. last month after massive MAGA blowback.

Rogan had sparked anger from fired up Trump supporters, and Trump himself, after a clip from his show indicated that he was supporting RFK Jr. for president.

Trump questioned Rogan's apparent endorsement on social media.

'It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring???' Trump asked in a post on Truth Social despite Rogan clarifying his position.

When asked Tuesday about whether there was any inherent tension between Trump and Rogan, the former president said there was not.

'I don't think that there was any tension and I've always liked him. But I don't know him,' Trump told Lex Fridman on his podcast episode released on Tuesday.

'I only see him when I walk into the arena with Dana [White] and I shake his hand,' the 2024 Republican presidential nominee went on. 'I see him there and I think he's good at what he does but I don't know about doing his podcast.'

'I mean, I guess I'd do it,' he admitted. 'But I haven't been asked and I'm not asking them, you know? I'm not asking anybody.'

Fridman speculated that Trump was openly negotiating to go on the show.

'No, it's not really a negotiation,' Trump replied. 'And he's sort of a liberal guy, I guess, from what I understand.'

Rogan has distanced himself from both major political parties in the past, but has shared on his podcast and through his stand up routines some controversial political opinions over the years.

The podcaster posts his conversations to Youtube channel The Joe Rogan Experience, which has 17.3 million followers. His conversations regularly amass hundreds of thousands to millions of views and listens. 

Any presidential candidate who earns a spot on Rogan's podcast would earn a far-reaching and diverse audience.

An episode released on June 14, 2024 featured Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who just last month suspended his independent bid for the White House and endorsed Trump.

On August 9, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social: 'It would be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA 2024.'

Fridman asked Trump about this post.

'He likes Kennedy, this was before – I found this out before Kennedy came in with us. He's going to be great. I like that he likes Kennedy. I do too,' Trump said. 'You know, he's a different kind of guy. He's got some great things going and I think he's going to be – beyond politics – I think he could be quite influential in taking care of some situations.'

Asked to provide insight into the psychology behind his posts on social media, Trump admitted that he does sometimes regret what he puts out in the world.

Fridman asked if Trump is being 'intentionally provocative' or just 'speaking your mind.'

'Are there times when you regret some Truths?' the podcast host posed.

'Yeah, I do,' he replied. 'But not that often, honestly.'

'I do a lot of reposting. The ones you get in trouble with are the reposts… when you do your own words it's sort of easier.'
