From wearing a demure floor length gown as she walks into a royal wedding to posing with her adorable three sons on a sunny day and working as a nurse during the pandemic, Sofia of Sweden certainly paints the picture of a perfect princess.
And while it's clear the 39-year-old, who is expecting her fourth child with Prince Carl Philip, has settled well into royal life since marrying Europe's most handsome prince nine years ago, her past is certainly not what would be expected of a prim and proper princess.
Before marrying the second born child of Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, the Duchess of Varmland was a well-known party girl having posed topless for now defunct Lads Mag Slitz and giving saucy interviews about kissing female porn stars at parties.
Aged 20, then known as Sofia Hellqvist, she got a job as a glamour model. In one of her first jobs she wore nothing but camouflage underwear with a live boa constrictor wrapped around her neck to cover her modesty.
Clearly a hit with readers of lads mag Slitz, in 2004 she won the title of Miss Slitz.

This then acted as launch pad for her reality TV career.
She then got a job on a Love Island-esque TV show called 'Paradise Hotel'. The series involved hot young singletons sharing a luxury hotel room with each other to 'see what happens'.
In one scene, she stripped down and got a topless massage from a male contestant.
After the show, which was filmed in Las Vegas, she moved to New York, where she became well-known on the A-list party scene.
Sofia arrived in New York in 2005 to study accounting and business development at the New York Institute of English and Business.
While attending the institution in the city, she also studied yoga, where she became a qualified yoga instructor.
When she returned to Sweden, she continued her studies taking up courses at Stockholm University on global ethics, child and youth studies, and the UN Convention on the rights of the child in theory and Swedish practice. She also studied gender and international relations.
In the Big Apple she kept a blog detailing her movements, describing how she headed to parties with P Diddy and Mark Wahlberg.

'To be a woman in NY is an advantage. Don't take this the wrong way, but here the men aim to please,' one blog post read.
In another describing Mark Wahlberg, she wrote: 'He was calm and laid-back! We weren't. We had fun with our crew, sang karaoke and rocked standing on the sofas.'
She also met 'Queen of Porn' Jenna Jameson - who also starred in British Celebrity Big Brother - later telling Slitz that the pair had a steamy kiss.
'We ended up at the same party as Jenna. She came up saying that I was one of the cutest girls she had seen and wanted me to come and sit with them,' she said.
She continued modelling, including somewhat less raunchy shoots for the French style magazine, La Redoute.
Five years after appearing on the show, Sofia met Carl-Philip in a nightclub in Stockholm.
Within a year, the couple moved to Djurgården of Stockholm, where they still live in the Villa Solbacken.
After finishing school, she went on to complete an arts programme at Vansbro Education Centre and started modelling to get money while she was a student in Stockholm

They soon started making several appearances together at royal events. Queen Silvia of Sweden was said to have considered Miss Hellqvist an unsuitable match - but she eventually managed to win her over.
Sofia's risque past meant that news of her relationship with Carl-Philip - who had ended his relationship with his girlfriend of almost a decade, PR Emma Pernauld - shocked even liberal Sweden.
Today, there are no traces of her butterfly tattoo or belly button ring. After the pair got engaged, Sofia had a Kate Middleton-esque makeover, opting for sensible shoes, and pearl necklaces (although her wedding dress did show off a back tattoo).
Speaking in 2013 about her scandalous past, Sofia brushed aside any criticism.
'For me it's pretty boring, it happened 10 years ago and I've moved on with my life. But no regrets, experience shapes a person.'
'People had opinions about me and my relationship, and more,' she told TV4 in another interview.
'It was very tough. People had comments on everything possible, on what I do and how I look,' said the Princess, who has undertaken charity work to combat hate speech on the web.
After their relationship was announced, however, Sofia faced a public backlash because of her past life working as glamour model.
She has spoken openly about her struggle from life in the showbiz industry to life in the royal family, as she received an onslaught of online abuse from members of the public.
Princess Sofia told the Swedish channel TV4 in 2021: 'I was met with an enormous hate storm from people who had opinions about me as a person, about my relationship.
'I was surprised and it definitely affected me.
'I didn't understand that people had such a need to express how badly they felt about me. It was tough.
'I don't regret anything. All these experiences have made me the person I am.'
It was not the first time she had opened up about the public scrutiny she received.
In 2018, while speaking at the Let's Make Love Great Again festival about bullying, she described how the media furore 'knocked her over'.

Sofia's engagement to Prince Carl was announced on June 27 2014, and the couple were married at the Royal Chapel on June 13 2015.
Since then she has become a valuable member of the royal family,
Following their wedding, the newly wed royal couple set up the Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia's Foundation.
Princess Sofia spends much of her time at the charity, which mainly focuses on issues relating to younger people being safer online and as well as having a greater understanding and respect of those with dyslexia.

In 2016, the couples first son Prince Alexander, eight, was born followed by their second son Prince Gabriel, seven, in 2017 and their youngest Prince Julian.
In 2019, King Carl XVI Gustaf decided that Princess Sofia's sons, as well as those of Prince Carl Philip's sister Princess Madeline, will not have HRH titles.
Although they will still go by prince and princesses they will not receive taxpayer funds.
At the time of the announcement Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip said it would allow their children to have more freedom when they get older.
When asked by Royal Central if she had ever considered stepping back from royal life, like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex she said: 'No. Not really. I think I have found such a fantastic balance, and I really see it as positive that I have made it through these stormy years.
'It is such a huge advantage, in that we have the opportunity to stand a little in both worlds.'
During the pandemic Princess Sofia undertook a three-day medical course at Sophiahemmet University College in Stockholm, where she is an honorary chair member.
This week, the royal couple revealed they are expecting. Sofia is 'doing well' and the baby is due in February 2025, according to the palace's statement, which was shared to the Royal Family's Instagram account this afternoon.
Carl Philip, 45, is the only son and second child of Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. His older sister Princess Victoria, 47, is the heir to the Swedish throne and he is currently fourth in the line of succession.
A statement shared by the Swedish Royal Household read: 'Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have the great pleasure to announce that the Princess is expecting the couple's fourth child.
'Princess Sofia is doing well and the birth is expected in February 2025. No changes are expected in Princess Sofia's official program during the autumn.'
The statement was shared alongside a sweet photograph of the couple, with Carl Philip smiling at the camera, while his wife leaned her head on his face. The background featured a stunning lake and several mountains.
Over the weekend, the couple attended the wedding of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and Shaman Durek Verrett on Saturday.
