2024 election polls live updates: Donald Trump holds narrow lead over Kamala Harris in Daily Mail's prediction model

The latest numbers from DailyMail.com's election forecast show Donald Trump has the best chance to win the electoral college while Kamala Harris is favorite in the popular vote.

Our pollsters J.L. Partners suggest the most likely outcome is Trump takes the electoral college by 287 to 251, and the result runs through Pennsylvania.

The crucial takeaway is that 34 days from election day, the race is still too close to call and could be one of the closest in decades.

Voters who tuned into the vice presidential debate on Tuesday night declared J.D. Vance the winner over Tim Walz in DailyMail.com's exclusive snap poll.

Even though voters thought Harris' running mate Walz was the 'weirder' of the two and looked more 'nervous', the results suggested there is a mixed chance it will impact the general election

Trump holds narrow lead in our election model: Latest numbers show race tightening in some crucial battlegrounds

From Rob Crilly, Chief U.S. Political Correspondent

Our friends at J.L. Partners have run the latest numbers through their 2024 election model and the results show a familiar theme: The race will go down to the wire.

Donald Trump had eased ahead two weeks ago, taking a 10-point lead (with a 55 percent chance of winning the electoral college) but things have tightened since.

The forecast gives him a 52.2 percent chance of winning with Kamala Harris on 47.6 percent. (She remains the clear favorite to win the popular vote however.)

The most likely outcome remains that he takes the electoral college by 287 to 251, and the result runs through Pennsylvania. Whoever wins that state, will likely win the whole thing.

The good news for Harris, says J.L. Partners' data scientist Callum Hunter is that Michigan has moved slightly her way. The next thing to look for is the impact of the VP debate.

There has been little movement this past week - perhaps a slight movement towards Harris across some of the swing states compared to the start of last week. The key thing is that the race seems to be settling a little. Previously there had been large movements due to ballot access or the post debate environment. This has settled down now. Looking at the win probabilities for the swing states it's clear that things have settled into a more stable position over the last week.

Trump fires back after Special Counsel Jack Smith's 'hoax' filing

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to blast Jack Smith's 165-page filing laying out new evidence of how he allegedly attempted to overthrow the 2020 election.

WHETHER NOW THE FULLY DEBUNKED RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, IRAN, IRAN, IRAN, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, 51 INTELLIGENCE AGENTS, SPYING ON MY CAMPAIGN, IMPEACHMENT HOAX NUMBER ONE, IMPEACHMENT HOAX NUMBER TWO, OR ANY OF THE OTHER SCAMS, THIS ILLEGAL ACTION TAKEN BY THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT, INCLUDING THEIR RAID ON MAR-A-LAGO FOR A CASE THAT WAS DISMISSED, WILL END JUST LIKE ALL OF THE OTHERS - WITH COMPLETE VICTORY FOR “PRESIDENT DONALD J. Breaking:Jack Smith makes bombshell new claims in latest filing in Trump 2020 election fraud case... including plots to 'start riots'

Special Counsel Jack Smith unveils stunning new evidence in his latest filing in Donald Trump's January 6th case, surfacing private conversations with top aides and lawyers who ridiculed his election fraud claims as coming from outer space.

The 165-page filing, arguing that Trump's alleged conduct doesn't merit immunity under a new Supreme Court standard, casts Trump's as a plot by a private individual to steal the election – not protected conduct by a branch of government.

The 165-page filing is filled with stunning episodes of Trump employees and allies seeing to gin up fraud claims in contested states.

On Nov. 4, 2020, according to the filing a campaign operative an coconspirator identified as P5 tried to 'sow confusion' about the vote count at Detroit's TCF Center.

When a colleague said a batch of votes looked to be heavily in Biden's favor, the operative responded, 'find a reason it isn't' and 'give me options to file litigation.'

A colleague said events might soon resemble the 'Brooks Brothers Riot,' when House GOP aides and affiliates tried to stop the Florida count in the 2000 election.

'Make them riot' and 'Dot it!!!' the operative responded.

The museum is actually a house that was Kahlo's birthplace and lifelong residence. Following Kahlo’s passing, her husband Diego Rivera donated the home and its contents to turn it into a museum in her honor.

The museum and its garden now showcase a collection of Kahlo's personal belongings, paintings, sketches, and photographs, offering a glimpse into her cultural legacy.

Trump holds slight edge over Harris with Arab Americans in shocking twist

By Nikki Schwab, Chief Campaign Correspondent

Vice President Kamala Harris is slightly trailing former President Donald Trump with Arab Americans, according to polling released Wednesday from the Arab American Institute.

The survey found that 42 percent of likely voters preferred Trump, while 41 percent backed Harris. Twelve percent plan to back a third-party candidate.

Normally Democrats have a 2-to-1 advantage with this group.

While Harris regained much of the support President Joe Biden lost with the community after October 7, she's still 18 points behind Biden's level of support four years ago.

Gaza is a top issue for Arab Americans with 81 percent telling pollsters it will determine their vote.

Both Harris and Trump could grow their support among Arab Americans if they demanded an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza or threatened to withhold diplomatic support and arms shipments to Israel.

Harris moves her number to 60 percent support from Arab Americans if she made these policy changes, while Trump's number would pop up to 55 percent support.

The Democratic nominee has been more critical of Israel during the war in Gaza but continues to support arming the Jewish state, while Trump has been unabashedly pro-Israel.

JD Vance says Tim Walz 'friends with school shooters' comment 'only the third or fourth dumbest' thing he said during debate

Charlie Spiering, Senior US Politics Reporter

Republican candidate for vice president JD Vance recalled moments from Tuesday night's vice presidential debate, including details of a conversation he had with former President Donald Trump after the debate.

'He made this observation,' he said that Tim Walz said that he was "friends with school shooters" twice,' Vance said at a campaign rally as his supporters in the crowd chuckled.

Vance said he did not notice Walz's comment at the time but was surprised to hear it.

'That was probably only the third or fourth dumbest comment Tim Walz made that night, then,' Vance said, recalling his remarks to Trump.

Walz drew mockery after he said during the debate, 'I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents. I’ve become friends with school shooters. I’ve seen it' during a discussion about school shootings and gun control.

Vance said he felt a 'little bad' for Walz because he had to defend the 'indefensible' record of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Tim Walz forced to backtrack again on Tiananmen Square story after debate answer did not satisfy reporters

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz again revised his story about being in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square massacre.

Walz was asked about the incident while traveling on the campaign trail Wednesday after he admitted Tuesday night during the VP debate that he previously 'misspoke' when talking about his being in Asia during the tragedy.

Previously Walz has said he was in Hong Kong when the incident occurred in June that year, but some reports indicate he did not go to Asia until August of 1989.

'I had my dates wrong. I was in Hong Kong and China in 1989,' he told reporters.

'I need to be clearer,' he continued, adding 'I understand China helluva better than Trump.'

Tim Walz admits he needs to be 'more specific' after 'friends with school shooters' comment

Charlie Spiering, Senior US Politics Reporter

Gov. Tim Walz dodged around his debate comment last night about being 'friends with school shooters,' but admitted that he need to be 'more specific.'

'I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents. I’ve become friends with school shooters. I’ve seen it,' Walz said, during the debate discussion about school shootings and gun control.

When asked by a reporter about what he meant Tuesday night when he was talking about, he replied, 'Yeah. And look you got to see me, these folks know me.

'I'm super passionate about this, the question come up about school shootings, talking about everything expect school shootings,' he continued.

Walz said he had met with parents of school shootings, including the families from the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting and the Parkland high school shooting.

'David Hogg is a good friend of mine,' he added referring to the young Parkland student activist pressing for more gun control.

He said the issue was personal to him and his wife, because he and his wife were both teachers and parents.

In fact, likely voters polled by J.L Partners for DailyMail.com, preferred Walz over Vance when asked about a variety of activities - including who they'd let babysit their kids, who they'd plan a roadtrip with and who they'd have watch their pets.

Republicans reintroduce bill to deport convicted sex offender migrants

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

Two GGOP senators announced they will reintroduce legislation aimed at deporting illegal migrants convicted of sex offenses.

Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst of Iowa re-upped the legislative effort after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released data revealing over 15,000 illegal immigrants convicted of sexual assault currently live in the U.S.

The bill is called The Better Enforcement of Grievous Offenses by Unnaturalized Emigrants (BE GONE) Act, and it would classify sexual assault done by unlawful migrants as 'aggravated felonies' making those found guilty subject to deportation.

'Sexual violence has no place in America,' Grassley said in a statement. 'The Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies have allowed criminals to enter our country and threaten the safety of our communities.'

Similarly, Ernst wrote: 'These violent criminals never would have entered America in the first place if we had real border security, but now that they’re in our communities, they need to BE GONE.'

'Since Border Czar Kamala Harris won’t protect this country, then I will. My legislation will combat sexual violence by ensuring predators are identified, stopped and deported.'

Tim Walz under fire for supporting Minnesota institute tied to infamous Wuhan lab and Chinese military

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz is coming under fire for supporting a U.S. research institute with connections to China.

The University of Minnesota's Hormel Institute has published research and worked with scientists from China's infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), the same lab the FBI concluded was likely the birthplace of COVID.

The WIV was also host to numerous experiments by the Chinese military's People's Liberation Army (PLA), including some grisly ones on animals.

And Walz, who has spoken highly of China and has taken dozens of trips there including his honeymoon, has worked to secure at least $7 million in funding for Hormel Institute.

It comes as the scrutiny on Walz's connections to China have taken center stage, including during the VP debate Tuesday night where he called himself a 'knucklehead' for 'misspeaking' about his past travels to the communist country.

Now, a worried Republican is demanding the Institute, which 'reflects a troubling disregard for national security concerns' turnover information regarding Walz's 'steadfast' support.

Harris campaign cuts ad using Vance refusing to say Trump lost the 2020 election

The Kamala Harris campaign has cut an ad less than one day after the vice presidential debate which focuses in on J.D. Vance refusing to say Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.

The 30-second spot is called ‘JD Vance’s damning non-answer’ and clips Vance stating on the debate stage that Trump peacefully gave over power as video from the attack on January 6 play across the screen.

The ad then clips Tim Walz pressing Vance when he asks: ‘did he lose the 2020 election?’

‘Tim, I’m focused on the future,’ Vance responds.

Walz called it a ‘damning non-answer’ and says it is between who will honor democracy and who will honor Trump.

Biden warns Israel not to attack Iran nuclear sites

President Joe Biden said he does not support Israel striking Iran's nuclear sites in response to its missile attack against its people.

‘The answer is no,’ he told reporters traveling with him.

Iran fired more than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Iran would pay for the attack. Some analysts worry that could mean an attack on Iranian nuclear sites.

Biden noted the G7 leaders held a call earlier in the day and supported Israel.

‘We'll be discussing with the Israelis what they're going to do, but all seven of us agree that they have a right to respond but the response - but they should respond proportionally,’ he said, adding that more sanctions on Iran were likely.

How the fallout from Hurricane Helene could have a dramatic impact on the 2024 presidential election

This is the map that shows in shades of red and blue how Hurricane Helene could have a decisive impact on voting in areas of North Carolina that will decide the 2024 election.

Her path cut a swath through red and pink areas, showing how some of the worst affected areas are counties that voted for Trump in 2020.

And others in south-eastern Georgia and north-western North Carolina are among the swingiest, showing how even a small impact on turnout could have an outsize effect.

Election officials are still sifting through the fallout from Helene's towering floodwaters, which inundated homes and cut off power to thousands.

But disruptions to the postal service, damage to polling places, and the loss of personal IDs could all upend voting with just 34 days until the election.

Biden warns striking dockworkers could hurt Hurricane Helene recovery

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 2: Striking dock workers at the Red Hook Container Terminal walk a picket line after members of the International Longshoremen's Association, or ILA, began walking off the job the day before, October 2, 2024 in the Red Hook neighborhood in the borough of Brooklyn, New York City. Workers are striking over wages, use of automated technology and other labor issues. (Photo by Andrew Lichtenstein/Corbis via Getty Images)

By Emily Goodin, senior White House correspondent

President Joe Biden called for dock workers and owners to sit down and iron at their differences, bringing the strike to a close.

He told reporters it was hurting recover efforts for Hurricane Helene.

‘This natural disaster is incredibly consequential. The last thing we need on top of that is the man-made disaster that's going on at the ports. We're getting push back already. We're hearing from the folks recently having trouble getting products they need because of the port strikes,’ he said at Joint Base Andrews as he prepared to see the storm damage in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Nearly 50,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association are on strike from ports from Maine down to the Gulf of Mexico.

A long strike could cause supply delays that are reminiscent of supply chain issues during the COVID pandemic.

Union workers are asking for a wage increase.

Biden, who is a pro-union president, pointed out the consortium that owns the prots ‘made incredible profits, over 800% profit since the pandemic, the owners are making 10s of millions of dollars.’

‘It's time to sit at the table and get this strike done,’ he added.

Trump thanks Tim Walz family member for MAGA support

Donald Trump is trolling Kamala Harris' running mate Tim Walz after a member of his family was seen at a J.D. Vance debate watch party on Tuesday.

'A great honor to have you on our side,' the former president wrote on Truth Social.

'We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, something Tim would not be able to do!'

Recently, DailyMail.com obtained an image of members of Walz's family supporting his Republican rival.

The photo shared by former Nebraska GOP gubernatorial candidate Charles W. Herbster showed eight people wearing 'Nebraska Walz's for Trump' t-shirts.

A representative for Herbster told DailyMail.com those posing are related to Walz through his grandfather's brother.

The photo quickly went viral among MAGA users who say his own family's opposition to his candidacy is proof that people should be wary of voting for a Harris-Walz ticket.

Donald Trump Jr. says 'I didn't know Tim Walz was a woman...' after J.D. Vance accused of 'mansplaining' in VP debate

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

Donald Trump Jr. ripped into Tim Walz after a MSNBC host accused J.D. Vance of 'mansplaining' during the vice presidential debate.

The bizarre claim that Vance was 'mansplaining' came from MSNBC host Nicole Wallace.

During the debate, Vance was speaking at length about Kamala Harris's immigration record and the administration's use of the CBP One app for migrants before his mic was spectacularly muted by the CBS hosts.

He was cut off mid-sentence as he explained the process for illegal migrants to gain temporary legal status through the CBP One app.

'I actually think that if you're a woman that might be the worst moment J.D. Vance had because he was going to mansplain right over that mute button,' Wallace told her fellow panel, comprised mostly of women.

But Trump Jr. took to X to suggest that if Vance is guilty of 'mansplaining' to Walz, the Democratic governor must not be a man.

Christians protest Donald Trump on National Mall using golden calf balloon

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

A group of Christians protesting Donald Trump used a large golden calf balloon to denote the ex-president as a false idol.

The gold cow balloon is a Biblical reference to the golden calf statue praised in the Old Testament by Moses's followers as they roamed the deserts of Egypt before eventually heading to the Promised Land of Israel.

The story goes that after Moses went up to receive the Ten Commandments he discovered his followers praising a statue of a golden calf when he returned. The Biblical leader scolded his followers once he discovered the 'false idol' statue.

It appears the Christians on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., were trying to say Trump is like the statue, a vessel not worthy of praise.

President Joe Biden is sending 1,000 active-duty soldiers to North Carolina to help with the response to Hurricane Helene, the White House announced.

‘These soldiers will speed up the delivery of life-saving supplies of food, water, and medicine to isolated communities in North Carolina – they have the manpower and logistical capabilities to get this vital job done, and fast. They will join hundreds of North Carolina National Guard members deployed under State authorities in support of the response,’ Biden said in a statement.

North Carolina was hit hard, particularly in its western mountain region. The tourist-heavy town of Asheville suffered terrible flooding and destruction. Compounding the problem, several main routes into Asheville were washed away or blocked by mudslides, including a 4-mile section of Interstate 40.

The Department of Defense already has activated 22 helicopters to aid in search and rescue operations and provided dozens of high-water vehicles as part of rescue efforts.

In total, FEMA has shipped over 8.5 million meals, more than 7 million liters of water, 150 generators and over 220,000 tarps to aid response efforts, the White House said.

Biden will visit Raleigh, N.C., today to be briefed by emergency responders at the command center there.

Speaker Mike Johnson says Congress must address Hurricane Helene damage

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

Republican Speaker Mike Johnson said that Congress must approve funding for Hurricane Helene relief on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning.

Co-host Brian Kilmeade asked the GOP leader how much he thinks the historic storm will cost, suggesting it will be around $35 billion for the federal government to clean up the impacted areas in Florida, North Carolina, Georgia and elsewhere.

It will be much higher than that, of course,' Johnson responded. 'Look at the swathe and breadth of the damage across some states.'

'It will take 30 days or more for them to assess that. Congress will have to address it.'

'This is an appropriate role for the federal government,' he added.

Jimmy Carter wheeled out to watch military flyover in Georgia as he celebrates 100th birthday with friends and family

Despite his grandson saying he was 'limited' as he turned 100, Jimmy Carter spent his birthday in the sunshine enjoying a military flyover at his Georgia home.

Carter - the first American president to reach the century mark - was able to watch a flyover of four F-18 jets and several vintage planes that graced the skies over Plains, Georgia as part of the town's celebrations, per CBS News.

He was also feted at Plains High School, where Carter graduated in 1941 and which now serves as the visitor center for the national park that features sites from his early life, including the nearby peanut farm where he grew up.

On Tuesday evening, the school held a concert in honor of the president, and in the morning, a naturalization ceremony for 100 new US citizens, who placed hands over their hearts and recited the pledge of allegiance.

Carter's grandson Jason issued a concerning update on the former president's health as he celebrates, but revealed who he wished to vote for in the upcoming presidential election.

CBS moderators are given a brutal assessment of their 'biased' and 'obnoxious' performance in the Vance-Walz debate

Pundits and commentators online were not all pleased with the CBS News moderators' performance during Tuesday night's vice presidential debate.

The most jarring moment came when Margaret Brennan fact-checked Republican VP nominee, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance over comments he made about Haitian migrants.

That led to a back-and-forth that ended with Brennan and Norah O'Donnell cutting off the candidates' mics.

'F you CBS - how dare you,' conservative host Megyn Kelly tweeted. 'Tried to fact check. JD put you in your place. You won't [let] him fight you and you wont let them debate.'

A user on X chimed in: 'JD Vance called out the moderators for lying to the audience, and CBS immediately muted him. Legacy media is clearly controlled by the Democrats.'

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will make separate trips south to see a trio of states devastated by Hurricane Helene.

Biden will take an aerial tour of South Carolina before being briefed by emergency responders in Raleigh, N.C.

Harris will visit Georgia to see the storm damage and be briefed there. The Democratic presidential nominee canceled plans to campaign in Pennsylvania on Wednesday so she could visit the areas impacted by the hurricane.

Donald Trump, who visited Georgia on Tuesday, has been critical of the administration’s response to Helene, falsely claiming Biden wouldn’t speak to the state’s governor.

The death toll from the storm is approaching 160 people, and power and cellular service remains unavailable in many places.

Biden has said the administration is sending ‘every available resource’ to those areas.

Tim Walz heads out on campaign swing that will take him to at least six states

Sarah Ewall-Wice, Senior U.S. Political Reporter:

Kamala Harris' running mate Tim Walz is heading out on a post-debate campaigning, fundraising and media blitz that will take him to at least six states.

Today, the Democratic vice presidential nominee will head to Pennsylvania for a bus tour with stops in central Pennsylvania including Harrisburg, Reading and York where he will hold a rally with Senator John Fetterman. During the swing, he’ll meet with labor leaders, rural voters and Latino community members.

On Saturday, Walz will head to Ohio for fundraising before heading west with stops in California and Washington. He will then head through the Sunbelt with stops in Nevada and Arizona.

At the same time, the Minnesota governor will be upping his appearances with the media including making his late night TV debut and sitting down for two national tv interviews. He will also record several digital appearances including joining a top pop culture podcast.

J.D. Vance is grilled on whether Trump lost the 2020 election after Walz gave his 'best answer of the night' on January 6

In a debate where he botched some phrases and said he is sometimes a 'knucklehead,' Tim Walz asked a pointed question to J.D. Vance about whether Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.

The response he got from Trump's running mate is one that Democrats believe will bolster their case that Trump is a threat to democracy and Vance would help him overturn the will of the voters.

'Did he lose the 2020 election?' Walz asked Vance after the debate moderators set up a long question for the Ohio senator that included pointing out having 62 election claims by Trump and his allies tossed out of court.

'Tim, I'm focused on the future,' Vance said. Then he tried to change the subject. 'Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 covid situation,' Vance responded.

Viewers entranced by JD Vance's eyes: 'Having a girly moment'

Social media marveled at JD Vance's 'pretty eyes' as Google searches for eyeliner exploded during his VP debate against Tim Walz.

The high-stakes showdown between GOP Sen. J.D. Vance and Democratic Gov. Tim Walz comes with just 35 days left until the election and with polls showing it could be one of the closest races in decades.

However, some on X getting a first look at Vance seemed entranced by the Ohio Senator's eyes.

Even Democrats seemed taken with Vance, one writing: 'I don't know much about Vance, but I'm entranced by his icy blue eyes,' before clarifying she wasn't voting for him.

Another added: 'Definitely having a girly moment….but JD Vance has such pretty eyes!!'

JD Vance was 'smooth' operator while Tim Walz 'flawed' body expert reveals

JD Vance showed a 'smooth, charming confidence' at his vice presidential debate with 'human and flawed' Tim Walz, a body language expert said.

Judi James told DailyMail.com that the debate could be encapsulated at the end when Vance and Walz attempted to shake hands with a 'very well-mannered battle for power and status.'

She said that Vance walked over to Walz and did a 'drop-dig hand gesture to register a hearty strength.'

This was in contrast to the presidential debate, where James said Kamala Harris 'grabbed the initiative before the debate even began with her assertive handshake with Donald Trump.'

Vance got the upper hand by patting Walz's arm before Walz did the same in return, in an attempt to laugh it off.

James echoed what many on social media saw as a refreshing geniality to the debate, citing the moment where Vance had a knowing laugh at Walz admitting he can 'miss-speak' like Trump.

Walz posts about JD Vance’s non-answer on January 6 while commentators re-air his own debate flubs

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was posting Wednesday morning about one of his strongest moments of the debate, when he confronted J.D. Vance

He was referencing the confrontation he asked Vance point-blank about running mate Donald Trump: ‘Did he lose the 2020 election?' Walz said.

'Tim, I'm focused on the future,' Vance said, changing the subject to censorship on social media. Walz called it a ‘'damning non-answer’ on the debate stage.

‘Last night, what JD Vance didn’t say said everything,’ Walz posted on X Wednesday morning. Vance has previously said he would have asked states to submit ‘alternate slates of electors’ if he had been vice president January 6. That’s something Trump was demanding as part of his election overturn effort.

Walz’s post came as some of his own flubs, including a confusing answer on his trip to Hong Kong, a stumble on Israel, and accidentally saying he was friends with school shooters were getting parsed by commentators.

Democrats left scratching their heads after Walz-Vance 'nicefest': 'Missed a lot of opportunities'

Democratic pundits were left scratching their heads in disbelief Tuesday night after the at time stumbling performance of Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, MInnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Walz started off shaky, often mixing up his words and appeared anxious and unable to answer when pressed on his own misstatements about his past and experience.

'I was missing the magic and the organic spontaneity of Tim Walz,' said former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki.

Symone Sanders Townsend, an MSNBC host and former campaign manager for Bernie sanders tweeted: 'My thoughts about this debate can all be summed up with: Gov. Walz is not prosecuting the case rather its a nicefest. If you agree with Vance on so much then why should we vote for you?'

'Walz has missed a lot of opportunities to go on the attack and point out Vance’s lies and hypocrisy. The policy wonking is not really cutting it,” said Asha Rangappa, a frequent CNN legal analyst and former special agent with the FBI in New York.

Meanwhile, ABC News' Linsey Davis, one of the moderators of the only Trump-Harris debate, delivered a crushing analysis of Walz's performance - likening it to Joe Biden's disatrous performance in his only debate against Trump.

'It kind of reminded me of the June 27th debate when Kamala Harris that night said of Joe Biden it was a "slow start, but a 'strong finish,' said Davis, who along with co-moderator David Muir, was accused of bias for the Democrat.

'And that’s how it felt that Tim Walz kind of did tonight. You know, to use Tim Walz’s own words, I mean, a lot about this debate tonight was weird. There were uncomfortable, cringey moments,' she said after the Walz-Vance debate.

And MSNBC's summed up the Democrat frustration succinctly, saying Walz left him 'bummed out'.

After host Rachel Maddow praised Walz’s response to the Jan. 6 riot question, insisting the Democrat knocked Vance 'out cold,' Hayes had a very different take on the exchange, saying Walz 'almost apologizes' for calling the mob taking over the Capitol a 'threat to democracy.'

'You could see it in his face, because you can hear when someone’s throat is a little closed, he does not like fighting and arguing, he doesn’t like delivering the blow, that’s not who he is. He had to steel himself, he almost had to apologize for it.'

'I’m kind of bummed out by this,' he said.

Exclusive:Who won the VP debate? J.D. Vance declared the winner over Tim Walz in Daily Mail poll

Donald Trump's running mate J.D. Vance outperformed his Democratic rival Tim Walz in their one and only debate of the 2024 race, according to DailyMail.com's exclusive snap poll.

The high-stakes showdown on CBS just 35 days before the general election was a chance for the vice presidential picks to prove their credentials to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

The candidates tangled over abortion, immigration, gun violence and the Middle East and took plenty of opportunities to present each other as extreme or 'weird'.

They also bigged up their bosses, Trump and Kamala Harris, in the midst of the final campaign sprint in what is shaping up to be one of the closest races in decades.

But it was Vance who left the best impression with viewers, after a strong start against his nervy opponent and despite dodging a question on if Trump lost the 2020 election.

According to the DailyMail.com/J.L Partners poll of 801 likely voters, 50 percent said Vance won the debate compared to just 43 percent who said Walz was the victor.
