Kamala Harris plays Trump clips to autoworkers where he says a 'child' could do their jobs

By Nikki Schwab, Chief Campaign Correspondent

Vice President Kamala Harris again played video clips of former President Donald Trump at a campaign event - this time in front of autoworkers in Lansing, Michigan reminding them that the GOP nominee once said a 'child' could do their jobs.

Both Harris and Trump are barnstorming Michigan on Friday, with Harris making her second stop of the day at a United Auto Workers' union hall in the Michigan state capital.

'Make no mistake, Donald Trump is no friend to labor. He is no friend to labor. And we've got to listen to what he says,' Harris said. 'In fact, can we roll the clip?'

After a brief pause, Trump's face popped up onscreen, with the real estate developer saying that he 'used to hate to pay overtime' and would 'go out and get other people and let them work regular time.'

In another clip Trump says they 'build everything in Germany and then they assemble it here.'

'They get away with murder,' he went on. 'Because they say, "oh yes, we're building cars." They don't build cars. They take them out of a box and they assemble them.'

'We could have our child do it,' Trump said.

Harris also played the clip of Trump telling Elon Musk that striking workers would be 'all gone' and the GOP nominee saying that the leader of the UAW, Shawn Fain - who backs Harris - 'should be fired immediately.'

The clips prompted boos from the audience in the pivotal swing state.

'Donald Trump, listen to his words. He's saying that autoworkers are essentially engaged in child's play. That children could do it,' Harris said. 'He thinks that the value of your work is essentially meaningless, to compare it to child's work. When we here know the work you do is complex.'

Trump responds with fury after Harris questions his stamina, saying she ‘doesn’t have the energy of a rabbit’

By Geoff Earle, Deputy U.S. Political Editor

Donald Trump hit back with fury Friday after Kamala Harris said he seemed ‘exhausted.’

Harris was picking up on a report that Trump’s team cited fatigue for backing out of an interview, following reports Trump had nixed several planned appearances.

‘If he’s exhausted on the campaign trail, is he fit to do the job?’ Harris asked while both candidates were appearing in Michigan.

Trump, who had blasted Harris in an appearance at the Al Smith dinner in New York where he repeatedly questioned her intelligence, hit back later.

‘What event did I cancel? I haven’t canceled,’ said Trump. She doesn’t go to any events. She’s a loser. She doesn’t go to any events. She didn’t even show up with the Catholics last night at the hotel. It was insulting,’ he said.

Trump said he was on Fox & Friends at 7 am, although in fact he appeared at 8 am, and the hosts attached a microphone to his jacket on the air, suggesting he might have been late.

‘I’ve gone 48 days now without a rest. And I’ve got that loser, who doesn’t have the energy of a rabbit,’ Trump said

Former President Donald Trump slammed prosecutor Jack Smith as a 'deranged lunatic' Friday after a judge in his election interference case published a 1900-page dossier of evidence.

It included evidence that Trump drank soda as he watched a mob of his supporters attack the U.S. capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. And it described conversations between Trump and his aides and family members.

'He's a deranged lunatic who lost Florida,' he said, referring to the documents case which was tossed by a judge in July.

Should have never been put in charge of this case. There is no case. I did absolutely nothing wrong. He's deranged person. You know what it is? It's called election hunting. That's all they are doing. Election hunting. The weaponization of the justice system and the people are wise to it. Nothing was released. There's nothing released.

Vice President Kamala Harris kicked of a three stop campaign swing through Michigan on Friday with an event in Grand Rapids.

Harris slammed Donald Trump for 'ducking debates and canceling interviews' and said his own campaign claimed it was because of exhaustion.

'Well if you are exhausted on the campaign trail, it raises real questions about whether you are fit for the toughest job in the world,' Harris said. 'Come on!'

She said for those reason and more 'it's time to turn the page.'

The Democratic presidential nominee spoke outdoors with a backdrop of trees with the leaves starting to change colors.

Harris also fine-tuned her speech to a Michigan audience - pushing back on Trump's assertion that she will force Americans to buy electric cars.

'And, Michigan, I know I’m going to tell you what you already know, but let us be clear for folks who are watching from different parts of the country.  Contrary to what my opponent is suggesting, I will never tell you what kind of car you have to drive,' she said.

Donald Trump’s campaign is unloading on the release of 1,900 pages of redacted material that special counsel Jack Smith’s prosecutors filed under seal for his January 6 case.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung accused ‘radical Democrats’ of being ‘hell-bent on interfering in the presidential election on behalf of Lyin’ Kamala Harris,’ in language that echoes Trump’s own voice.

He said Trump was ‘dominating’ the race and the Deep State was ‘freaking out,’ on a day the documents came out by an order of U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan.

It comes after the heavily-redacted material revealed excerpts from Mike Pence’s book and the letter where Pence wrote that he did not have the authority Trump claimed he did to refuse to accept votes certified by states that went for Joe Biden.

One transcript had a White House employee telling Congress about bringing a caffeinated soda to Trump as the Capitol mayhem unfolded.

‘I said, “It's like they're rioting down there at the Capitol,”’ the employee told the Congress. ‘And he was like, “Oh really?” And then he was like, “All right, let's go see.”’ The employee said they set up a TV in the Oval Office and brought Trump a Diet Coke.

‘I’m taking off his outer coat that he’s wearing right now, and I get the TV, like, ready for him, and hand him over the remote, and he starts watching it,’ said the employee told the January 6 panel. ‘And I stepped out to get him a Diet Coke, come back in, and that’s pretty much it for me as he’s watching it and, like, seeing it for himself.’

Hot mic catches host complain that 'cut' joke about Trump was included in Al Smith speech

Comedian Jim Gaffigan walked the line between bawdy humor and outright offense when he supplied the punchlines at a charity dinner featuring former President Donald Trump on Thursday evening.

He could not resist joking about the infamous 'grab them by the p***y' controversy of the 2016 election despite being in front of an audience of New York's top Catholic clergy and former first lady Melania Trump at the Al Smith Dinner.

'You know, during the first and only debate, President Trump talked about migrants taking cats and eating them,' said Gaffigan. 'You know, if you’re keeping track at home, this is the second time grabbing a kitty has been part of a campaign issue.'

Melania's eyes widened at the mention, a smattering of boos rang around the hall and a female voice could be heard saying: 'We talked about leaving that out.'

Group of Republican senators demand answers about ISIS-inspired Election Day attack

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

A group of GOP lawmakers wrote a joint letter to Department of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas demanding more answers about a foiled terrorist plot.

The FBI arrested Afghan migrant Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, was arrested last week while trying to buy assault rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition for an Election Day attack on Americans.

Since then there have been scant updates on Tawhedi, and now lawmakers are asking DHS for more information by November 1.

'We remain deeply troubled by the increasing likelihood that foreign extremists may successfully exploit the weaknesses of our immigration system or our southern border to commit an act of political violence or an act of terror here on U.S. soil, and the policies of the Biden-Harris administration have only made matters worse,' the senators wrote.

This ongoing failure to protect Americans from potential terroristic threats is unacceptable and it is only a matter of time before it yields deadly results.

Afgahn arrested for terror plot State Dept PicNasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, told investigators after his arrest Monday that he had planned his attack to coincide with Election Day next month and that he and a juvenile co-conspirator expected to die as martyrs, according to charging documents.

Fox News denies writing jokes for Donald Trump's fundraiser address

By Jon Michael Raasch, U.S. Political Reporter for DailyMail.com

Speaking on Fox News' 'Fox & Friends' Friday morning Donald Trump said that someone from the channel helped him write jokes for a fundraiser dinner, but the network quickly denied the allegations.

Trump was asked by host Steve Doocy about who helped him write his speech for the Al Smith Dinner Thursday night where the audience cracked up at the former president's barrage of zingers.

'Well, I’ve had a lot of people helping,' Trump responded. 'A lot of people. A couple of people from Fox, actually.'

'I shouldn’t say that. But they wrote some jokes and, for the most part, I didn’t like any of them,' Trump continued.

However, in a statement given later Friday, the channel insisted they had nothing to do with the comedy routine: 'Fox News confirmed that no employee or freelancer wrote the jokes.'

Vice President Kamala Harris picked up the endorsement Friday of former Republican Rep. Charlie Dent from the important swing state of Pennsylvania.

It comes just days after a Bucks County, Pennsylvania event where Harris surrounded herself with more than 100 anti-Trump Republicans, including Rep. Adam Kinzinger and Olivia Troye, and pledged to be a bipartisan leader.

Dent, who left Congress in 2017, has long been a Trump critic.

As a lifelong Republican, I cast my absentee ballot in Allentown for Vice PresidentKamala Harris. She and I will not agree on every issue, but in her, we have a capable leader who will always put the interests of our country before her own, unlike her opponent who will always put his personal interests ahead of those of the United States.

Does the stock market indicate who will win the 2024 election?

The Dow's strong year-to-date translates to a 72 percent probability of Vice President Kamala Harris winning the election next month.

The greater the stock market's year-to-date return heading into a presidential election, the greater the chance of the incumbent party winning, according to MarketWatch contributor Mark Hulbert.

He wrote that there is a 'statistically significant correlation between the Dow’s election-year performance and the incumbent political party’s chances of retaining the White House.'

He argues the Dow's indication should be taken seriously.

'If you're a registered Pennsylvania voter, you and whoever referred you will now get $100 for signing our petition in support of free speech and right to bear arms,' he posted on his own social media platform.

President Biden dodged sensitive questions about Donald Trump after meeting with key European allies in Germany Friday. Asked if his predecessor came up in discussions, Biden joked to reporters traveling with him, ‘I don’t know who my predecessor is.’

Later, asked by DailyMail.com about the upcoming election and if fellow leaders are worried, Biden paused. ‘They’re interested,’ was his curt reply.

Biden said there is unanimity on ‘continuing to support what’s going on in Ukraine’ amid concerns about keeping military aid flowing.

On Israel in Iran, Biden said there was probably a way to deal with Israel and Iran ‘in a way that ends the conflict for a while.’ He said in response to a question he knew what Israel will do to respond to Iran’s missile attack and when, but would reveal the information.

Marc Anthony endorses Kamala Harris, recalls how Trump threw paper towels at Puerto Ricans

By Nikki Schwab, Chief Campaign Correspondent

Singer Marc Anthony endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris Friday in a new ad, recalling how former President Donald Trump threw paper towels at Puerto Ricans and called them 'dirty and poor.'

The New York born Puerto Rican artist filmed an ad for the Democratic nominee entitled 'Recuerdo' - or 'memory.'

Even though some have forgotten, I remember what it was like when Trump was president. I remember what he did and said about Puerto Rico, about our people. I remember after Hurricane Maria devastated our island, Trump blocked billions in relief while thousands died. I remember when our families lacked clean water and electricity, Trump threw paper towels and called Puerto Rico "dirty and poor."
I was not surprised. Because I also remember he launched his campaign by calling Latinos "criminals" and "rapists." He told us what he’ll do. He’ll separate children from their families, and threaten to use the Army to do it.

The 1984 election landslide that Trump keeps mentioning as a bad omen for Kamala skipping the Al Smith dinner

By Geoff Earle, Deputy U.S. Political Editor

Donald Trump once again flagged Walter Mondale’s landslide loss to Ronald Reagan Friday as a warning for rival Kamala Harris Friday.

He referenced the historic thumping because Mondale, the late Minnesota former vice president from Minnesota, was the last Democratic nominee to skip the dinner, which raises funds for Catholic charities and brings together some of New York’s biggest plutocrats.

‘I think it was terrible that she missed it, because it's only been one person missed it in many years, and that's Walter Mondale, who lost 49-to-one,' Trump said on Fox & Friends. Harris sent in a video sketch instead.

Trump is right about the lopsided result. Reagan, who was running for reelection, creamed Mondale in the Electoral College, garnering 525 electoral votes to Mondale’s 13. Mondale only carried his home state in the blowout.

The race wasn’t all that close in the popular vote either, with Reagan getting about 17 million more that Mondale. That compares to Joe Biden beating Trump by about 7 million votes in 2024 – and polls showiong a razor-tight margin separating Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Like the 2024 election, 1984 featured undercurrents of of race and gender. Mondale had to get by Rep. Jesse Jackson and other contenders in a crowded primary. After prevailing, he named Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate, making her the first woman to get a major party nomination. Mondale’s most memorable line was when he asked ‘Where’s the beef?’, in a dig at rival Sen. Gary Hart.

As it turns out, in the same interview on Fox where he brought up Mondale’s loss, Trump named Reagan as his favorite president and the cow as his favorite farm animal (he fielded softball questions from children).

Reagan's age was also an issue in his bid for reelection. He was 73 at the time, five years younger than Trump is now and eight years younger than President Biden, who was forced to step back from his reelecction bid.

Election model update: Trump holds steady lead

From Rob Crilly, Chief U.S. Political Correspondent

Friday brings another update to our election model by our friends at J.L. Partners, but it is broadly steady in showing a Trump victory in 61.4 percent of simulations. That means our overall assessment remains 'lean Trump' for the result.

The model now includes nearly 850 polls, with 246 national polls, 76 Pennsylvania polls and 53 Arizona polls.

Nevada and Pennsylvania have moved ever so slightly back to Kamala Harris, while Georgia, North Carolina and Wisconsin have all moved a touch towards Trump.

None of that changes the overall electoral college result, which is still most likely to come out 312-226 in favor of Trump.

As Callum Hunter, data scientist at J.L. Partners puts it in his latest briefing:

Movements are small across the board. The race has settled into its final furlongs and Trump is leading Harris by a head. But remember this is a probability model so we are still saying Harris wins in one in three scenarios. The model is showing a clear crystallization in favor of Trump and there appears to be little that can dislodge the model from this conclusion. Although there have been some movements against Trump in places like Nevada, he remains in a good position in Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina.

He issued a withering attack on his Democratic rival on Fox & Friends when responding Harris attack ads saying he's 'unstable and unhinged.'

Trump called it a 'pretty rough question' when cohost Ainsley Earhardt rang through a string of such attacks.

Trump then tore into Harris and her intelligence, branding Democrats 'misinformation people.'

Trump tells Fox News he beat Nikki Haley so badly he doesn't need her on campaign trail

By Geoffrey Earle, deputy u.s. political editor

Donald Trump spoke on Fox & Friends about how ‘badly’ he beat Nikki Haley and other Republican opponents, amid reports he is in talks to team up with his former rival on the campaign trail.

He was asked about the need to do better among women, where Kamala Harris is beating him in polls. ‘I think I do very well with women, and I think it's all nonsense. I see the polls, and we do well.’ He didn’t respond to part of the question about whether Melania Trump or Ivanka would be out on the trail with him.

He got asked if he would call Haley to get her to come out on the campaign trail with him. ‘Yeah, I’ll do what I have to do,’ Trump responded, before speaking about how badly he trounced her (she was the last Republican standing).

‘Let me just tell you Nikki Haley and I fought, and I beat her by 50, 60, 90 points. I beat her in her own state by numbers that nobody's ever been beaten by. I beat Nikki badly.’

Trump appeared to tire of reports on joining up with his former rival. ‘And they keep talking about Nikki, Nikki. I like Nikki. Nikki, I don't think should have done what she did, and that's fine that she did it … And then they say, oh, when is Nikki coming back in? Nikki is in. Nikki is helping us already … Everybody is in, and Nikki is already in.’

Did Kamala Harris pass the bar exam?

Trump on Fox & Friends Friday morning claimed that Harris had not passed the critical test to become an attorney.

Harris worked for years as a lawyer in California, and as the state's attorney general, before being elected to the Senate.

President Joe Biden is meeting with key European partners to cement support for the war in the Ukraine.

He’s sitting down with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Biden is trying to sooth international relations ahead of America’s presidential election. And trying to ensure Ukraine has what it needs to expel Russian forces.

‘As Ukraine faces a tough winter, we must — we must — sustain our resolve, our effort and our support,’ Biden said.

‘And I know the cost is heavy. Make no mistake, it pales in comparison to the cost of living in the world where aggression prevails, where large states attack and bully smaller ones simply because they can.’

Kamala Harris is expected to continue Biden’s support of Ukraine. But Donald Trump has said Russia would never have invaded Ukraine if he had been president.

Trump revisits attacks on Kamala Harris for skipping Al Smith Dinner

By Geoff Earle, deputy u.s. political editor

Donald Trump was back on camera Friday morning after singing notables during a black tie speech to the Al Smith Dinner Thursday night, once again hammering Kamala Harris for skipping the same event.

Trump appeared to roll in late to the Fox News studios, and had a mic attached to his lapel during the live broadcast on Fox & Friends.

He called it a ‘terrible mistake’ that Harris missed it, sending a video instead. ‘It’s only been one person missed it in many years, and that's Walter Mondale, who lost 49 to one. Asked why Harris didn’t go, Trump said, ‘I think that she's not competent.’

Trump got a fair amount of laughs in his own remarks in between his attacks on Harris. He said he went too far in his famously harsh routine with Hillary Clinton in at the 2016 dinner.

‘Your material was really funny. Who wrote it?’ asked cohost Steve Doocy.

'I had a lot of people helping, a lot of people. A couple people from Fox, actually. I shouldn't say that, but they wrote some jokes. For the most part, I didn't like any of them.'

He met Chancellor Olaf Scholz, before they were to hold four-way talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The leaders will discuss the wars in the Ukraine and Middle East.

‘We are supporting Ukraine as powerfully as we can and at the same time we are making sure that NATO does not become a party to the war, so that this war does not turn into an even bigger catastrophe,’ Scholz said.

‘America and Germany are the two largest supporters of Ukraine in its fight for survival …. I know the cost is heavy but it pales in comparison to the cost of living in a world where aggression prevails, where large states attack smaller ones simply because they can,’ Biden said.

President Joe Biden received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany as part of his state visit.

Biden started his one-day trip with a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and a formal review of the troops.

Steinmeier then gave him the Order of Merit. President George H.W. Bush is the only other U.S. president to have received the Order of Merit, in 1994, for strengthening the U.S.-German relationship in the aftermath of the Cold War.

Steinmeier noted that 44 years ago when Biden came to Germany as a senator a German civil servant noted at the time noted the then-senator would become ‘a significant political figure.’

‘When you were elected president you restored Europe’s hope in the transatlantic alliance literally overnight,’ he told Biden.

Biden, in his acceptance speech, spoke of the importance of alliances.

‘Germany and the United States stood together to support the great people Ukraine in their fight for freedom, democracy, for their very survival,’ he said.

He noted of Ukraine: ‘We’re headed into a very difficult winter and we cannot let up.’

Only 11 per cent made their decision in the last month.
