Eagles star Landon Dickerson to have knee surgery in huge blow for Super Bowl winners ahead of NFL season

Eagles guard Landon Dickerson is having to undergo surgery after damaging his knee on Sunday night.

The 26-year-old was helped off the field after hurting his right leg during an open practice at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field.

It soon emerged that Dickerson had suffered a meniscus injury and then, on Monday, NFL Network reported that he will have surgery in the coming days.

Despite the worrying news, however, there remains a chance that the guard will be healthy for the start of the NFL regular season.

Following an MRI, Dickerson is having 'minor' surgery to his knee and is reportedly considered 'week-to-week'.

Philadelphia begins its title defense on Thursday, September 4, in an opening-night clash against the Dallas Cowboys. 

The Eagles kicked off preseason with a 34-27 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals last week, with games against the Browns and the Jets to come. 

The former Alabama star, who was taken in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft, started 16 games for the Eagles last season.

Dickerson played a pivotal role as Nick Sirianni's team recovered from a slow start to triumph at Super Bowl LIX.
