Ford recalls another million cars due to rear-view camera issue that can cause a crash

Ford, already America's most-recalled car company, is issuing another safety bulletin for almost 1.5 million vehicles.

On September 4, the company filed paperwork with federal regulators because the rear-view cameras in older models may show a blank or distorted image while the vehicle is in reverse.

The company said impacted cars may distort the driver's view of what's behind the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.

It's Ford's 110th recall this year, according to boards from federal safety officials.

That's the most any carmaker has ever issued in a full year, and nearly four times as many as the second-most recalled brand.

The recall includes certain vehicles from model years 2015 to 2019 of the Mustang, Ranger, Transit, Transit Connect, Econoline, Edge, Expedition, F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD and F-550 SD.

It also includes two cars from its luxury Lincoln lineup, the 2015 through 2019 Navigator and MKC.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday in its safety recall report that Ford is aware of 18 accidents and no injuries related to the camera issue.

The agency stated that vehicle owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for inspection and replacement of the rear-view camera, if necessary.

Ford told the Daily Mail that it will provide mobile, pickup, and delivery services for impacted customers.

There will be no charge for the service.
